Springy

Posted on Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Dave!I don't have time to blog tonight because I have to change all my clocks as I "spring forward" for stupid fucking Daylight Saving Time...

DAVETOON: Bad Monkey on Springs!

It's the year TWO-THOUSAND-ELEVEN... isn't it time that we step out of the Dark Ages and stop dicking around with the clocks? We've got like... ELECTRICITY and THE LIGHT BULB now.

Wasn't President Obama supposed to revoke this shit?

In 2012 I'm voting for whichever presidential candidate promises to get rid of Daylight Saving Time. And I don't care if it's a stupid whore like Sarah Palin, a bigoted whore like Mike Huckabee, or a hypocritical whore like Newt Gingrich. I DO care if it's a fucking brain-dead whore like Michele Bachmann... but I'd still vote for the dumbass if she'd stop this idiotic DST insanity. Sure the country would be irreparably fucked up for four years, but at least I wouldn't have to adjust my internal clock twice annually while waiting for armageddon.

Annnnnd... now it's time to lose an hour MORE of sleep.

I have to disagree with you here, Dave. I never thought I’d miss DST *until* I moved to Brisbane. Beautiful Brisbane, where we have no DST and in the summer the sun rises at 4:30 AM! And by the time I get home from work it’s nearly dark. It blows.

    • Dave2 says:

Then split the difference! Next time Spring forward only a half-hour… FOREVER! Or leave the clocks on DST… PERMANENTLY! I don’t care how its done, I just want it to stop!
      🙂

  2. Neil T. says:

What’s worse is that different countries can’t even agree to change the clocks at the same time – you guys do it today, we do it next week.

At least all but 3 of my clocks will change automatically.

  3. James Bow says:

I have an easy solution to this problem: switch time zones on the day the clocks change.

Serious: Yesterday, I moved from Eastern to Central, and today, the clocks moved forward. So, instead of getting up at 6:28 a.m. Central, I got up at 7:28 a.m. Central, which used to be 7:28 a.m. Eastern. And, in a week, when I return to the Eastern time zone, I’ll move forward as per normal.

Okay, maybe not quite so easy…

  4. RW says:

I have to say the issue is a non-starter for me. Now that I work overnight and don’t even use alarm clocks any more I seem to be much less stressed by it all. However I am saving my vote for whichever candidate believes we should have more movies in black and white coming out of Hollywood. That would make him/her a shoe-in for me!

  5. I frickin’ HATE DST! Thanks to DST I am going to have to go kick ass in my derby bout on one less hour of sleep!! And yeah, I thought Obama said he was gonna repeal this crap!!

    (Grumble, grumble, grumble, HIP CHECK!)

  6. A. Lewis says:

Seriously? You don’t have time because you’re resetting clocks? How in the world many clocks do you possibly have??? Damn it…I WANTED A BLOG POST!!!!

  7. Sybil Law says:

Ugh. Could’ve slept all day today….

  8. Invader_Stu says:

Wait… was I supposed to put my clock forward this weekend?

  9. shiny says:

I like it in the fall — where I can turn my clocks back and get that extra hour of sleep.

In order to make up for it in the spring, I simply set my clock back 23 hours instead of moving it forward one. Problem solved.

  10. Aurora says:

What if we all just refused to change our clocks and carried on as if nothing had happened? I think you should spearhead this movement next spring. No one likes the losing an hour of sleep part anyway!

  11. martymankins says:

About the only thing I want carried over from Arizona to other states. Or I can simply move to Hawaii where they’ve decided to make time change a thing of the past.
