Crazier

Posted on Friday, December 3rd, 2010

Dave!Today I was late getting home from work because my backup decided to crap out and start over from scratch. Not wanting to sit and watch the blinky lights on my backup drive flash for a few hours, I decided to clean my office then walk down the road to get some dinner.

That was a mistake.

Not because the dinner was bad. The dinner was fine. I had a grilled cheese on sourdough and highly recommend it.

No. The reason it was a mistake is because this is a small town and you run into some crazy-ass people once the work-day has ended and everybody's running loose on the streets. Now, don't get me wrong... I fully confess that I am about a crazy-ass a person as you'll find here... but that doesn't mean I'm in a mood to tolerate it in others. Especially when I have to go back to work tonight.

But it's small-town America so whatcha gonna do?

And so I return to work after a nice meal and full dose of street-crazy, collect my freshly-minted backup drive, and go home.

Where I turn on my television and find out that I only thought I knew what "crazy" was about. Turns out I don't know Jack-shit about "crazy" because there's currently somebody cornering the market on bat-shit crazy, and he doesn't live anywhere near me...

It's McCain!
Photo of Senator John McCain courtesy of the AP Newswire... and Geritol.

Now, I've already said my peace* on McCain and his false concern for the brave men and women honoring us with their military service (which you can read here). McCain doesn't give two shits about the people in our military... he's just exploiting his self-proclaimed "concern" so he can pander to his fellow homophobes when it comes to Don't Ask Don't Tell (assumably for political gain, but who knows... he may just be a gigantic bigoted asshole and I'm over-thinking things here).

Fortunately I don't have to unleash a new rant on what a piece of shit McCain is** because John Stewart has got that covered. Beautifully...

Sigh. Just get over yourself or die already old man. Or... or... hop in a time machine and go back to the 1920's or whenever it was people were okay with your delusional ramblings.

The rest of us are trying to move on.

* Please don't try to tell me that it should be "said my piece." I don't care what the dumbass hoards on the internet say, at a wedding you "speak now or forever hold your peace." Holding your piece means something entirely different, and I need both hands to type (no matter how much fun holding my piece may be). In any event, I've not held my peace... I've said my peace... so deal with it.

** Sorry for the potty-mouth, but I ran out of what tiny measure of respect I had left for Senator McCain when I realized that he is responsible for unleashing Sarah Palin's dumbassery upon the world.

Your ire at John McCain is more than justified. He’s a troglodyte from another era who simply refuses to accept the reality that the world has changed and has left him behind.

With Jon Kyl as his senatorial douchebag-partner-in-crime, is it any wonder (even WITHOUT Jan Brewer and SB1070) Arizona is the laughing stock of the country, rapidly becoming the #1 contender for the Redneck State of the Year award.

And yes, if for no other reason, McCain is to be reviled for loosing that blathering idiot Palin upon the nation. If I believed in hell, surely there would be a very special place for him there.

In all honesty, I was just going to let this go, as I am tired of politics and don’t want them stinking up my blog. But our military deserves better than what they’re being force-fed by McCain, and I think it’s important that people speak out. Because as tired as I am of politics, I’m even more tired of this sick illusion that people have of McCain being a military hero who is doing all this out of concern for our troops. McCain betrayed our troops with MIA/POWs, and now he’s doing it again. The people have spoken. Military leaders have spoken. The troops have spoken. By his own analysis, Senator McCain should just shut the fuck up already and let us move forward.

I’m not in the military. I’ve never been in the military. But I care about the people serving in our military. If that’s not enough for people, then don’t listen to me. Listen to those who have served in the same war as McCain. I’ve posted a clip of their words from the Missing, Presumed Dead documentary (and more!) in the above link, and here it is again on YouTube.

If people choose to believe someone with military service over someone without, THERE THEY ARE! And these aren’t politicians speaking up for political gain, they’re just people who have served with honor telling their side of the story.

I still can’t understand that the’re people who vote for this foolish man, except those dumbass, still living in the 1700’s GOP’s of course.

  3. Lisa says:

McCain is a giant douche nozzle who should retire already. I heard his speech on DADT on NPR and it infuriated me. Honestly, though, I’m more afraid of Palin. While it doesn’t seem possible that not everyone can plainly see what an idiot she is, she has a HUGE following. And she’s much younger than bigoted old farts like McCain, so she has the potential to cause a lot of future damage.

  4. Ah, little Johnny McCain, makes me proud to call myself an Arizonan. The man cannot retire soon enough.

  5. RW says:

But it’s smalltown America votes for guys like this.

I used to think, in other days, that all we’ll have to do is wait for an old way of thinking to just die away with a generation, but the present day has turned that theory into mush. This is what America IS. Sad but true.

  6. Sarah says:

We were having a discussion in my Sociology class and some kid said that he had to give “props to McCain because that guy went through so much and has out backs.” It made me think of you and I couldn’t stop laughing.

  7. Suebob says:

I can’t wait til these dinosaurs die off and sink into the tar pits where they belong

  8. Sybil Law says:

Yep – and I’ll never forgive him for Sarah Palin, either.
