Dave!As I was pouring through the hundreds of emails piled in my inbox, Hilly emailed me to ask if I had watched The Simpsons last night, which I had not. After she mentions that Betty White had a cameo, I became obsessed with seeing it. A quick trip to the iTunes Store reveals that episodes aren't sold there, so BitTorrent it is. I remain dumbfounded as to why television studios are this fraking stupid. Here I am gladly willing to pay money for something that they have, and yet there's no way to buy it. I will, of course, buy the Season 18 DVD set when it becomes available (I buy all The Simpsons DVDs) but this is ridiculous. I cannot help but wonder if the execs at FOX Studios get together with Matt Groening at the end of each week and burn a big pile of money, since they obviously have no interest in maximizing their acquisition of it.

In any event, Betty has done it once again. Her brief appearance on the show after Homer has become one of the paparazzi was priceless...

Speaking of priceless, my beloved Elizabeth Hurley is making waves because of her stunning appearance at Elton John's birthday party...

And photos of her Indian wedding ceremony have finally surfaced...

Elizabeth Hurley... delicious on any continent!

Speaking of delicious, is it wrong that I actually want to see the latest Will Ferrell comedy, Blades of Glory?

Bladesofglory

Every time I see the previews, I laugh. And tonight I watched the Comedy Central "inside look" on the movie and want to see it even more. This is quite disturbing to me, because I'm pretty sure that I would normally avoid this kind of crap like the plague.

And speaking of plagues...

  1. Hilly says:

Yay! You got to see it :).

I still cannot believe how many people I see telling others to get Vista. Pffft, no thanks.

  2. Avitable says:

I love Betty White. She is hilarious! Did you see her at Shatner’s roast on Comedy Central? It was awesome.

  3. Troy says:

John Heder and Will Ferrell look like they just stepped out of Tron in that picture.

Though I think I will pass seeing the movie in the theatre. I’ll wait until I accidentally see it on DVD or TV.

  4. Dave3 says:

If it makes you feel any better, Eve and I will be lining up bright and early to plunk down our, what is it, 22 nuggets? to see Blades on opening day. Not only can’t I stop the giggles every time I see a commercial for it, but I feel irrationally compelled to support Jon Heder’s career. There are strange forces at work!

  5. Karl says:

Gots to love the Betty. Haven’t seen that episode. I haven’t watched Simpsons regularly in years, though.

  6. Lewis says:

So, I shouldn’t put Vista on my laptop? It’s capable, you know…and the upgrade is on its way to my mailbox soon. I have one other friend whose pics and vids did not transfer over with the Vista upgrade….I think I’ll wait a while and see. Hurley’s dress is amazingly beautiful! Even for a dude who plays on the other team, you’re right….she’s hot! And Betty White…..who could not love her. I’m still mad that Lifetime moved around their re-run schedule so I can’t watch the GGirls with dinner each evening.

  7. Lewis says:

    Oops…sorry…..
PS: Did you happen to see the Elton John 60th Birthday celebration? It was an amazing evening….streamed live on MSN video. Filled with all kinds of great music, choir, and hot people……

  8. borysSNORC says:

From someone who works in IT support at the moment… Vista has become the bane of our daily existence!!! Particularly love the UAC – someone at Microsoft sure has a sense of humour 😐

    RMB

  9. Tracy Lynn says:

Man, if I had a dollar for everyone I told NOT to get that stupid OS, I would have enough money to get me a Honda Element.

    Morons.

  10. Laurence says:

    Betty rules !!! 😉

Liz is so pretty ! (I love her white dress)

The photo of Will Ferrell is so funny ! 😀

  11. sizzle says:

i actually can’t wait to see Blades of Glory. the trailer has me rolling. i never thought i’d say it but, i’m a fan of will farrell.

  12. ChillyWilly says:

I missed that episode of The Simpsons as well, but like you, Torrent saved the day.

Some iTunes shows are available pretty quick… others, like The Simpsons, take a lot longer than they should.

And you are right, if they had the ability to push the episode out sooner, they could sell a lot more episodes.

  13. diane says:

Over the weekend I got a pedicure and they gave me the issue of People with Liz’s wedding pictures. She looked adorable–did you see the photo of her performing a traditional Indian dance? Hawt!!
I want to see Blades of Glory too. I adore John Heder!

  14. Kyle I says:

Stupid plague….did you here that Bill Gates claimed that hackers are breaking on to Macs “daily”? And in the same breath challenged them to break in to Vista “once a month”?

  15. kapgar says:

The only thing that’s wrong about you wanting to see the new Will Ferrell movie is that you started the thought by mentioning “delicious.”

  16. sandra says:

I completely and totally want to see Blades of Glory. If that makes you feel any better.

  17. Dave2 says:

Hilly… Like anything could stop me. 🙂

Avitable… Oh yes. I blogged about her roasting goodness here. She was excellent, as expected!

Troy… I think that this is one of those rare films that simply demands to be seen on the Big Screen. Much like Dances with Wolves or Lord of the Rings.

Dave3… I don’t know why I like Will Ferrell movies, but I do. Sometimes they are actually good (Stranger Than Fiction) which is nice… but most of the time they’re just darn entertaining and not much more. It’s rare that he has a total mis-step (Bewitched) and so I’ll keep watching. Heder keeps picking interesting roles… I was surprised he was in Just Like Heaven but he made the most of the material he had to work with.

Karl… I try to watch The Simpsons, but Sundays are a difficult night for me. Amazing that they still manage to churn out such great episodes after EIGHTEEN YEARS!

Lewis… I have had nothing but trouble with Vista. I say “wow” alright… as in “wow, Vista totally sucks ass.” I can’t believe Microsoft wasted a decade on an OS that is so blindingly mediocre. The original Longhorn specs were so impressive that I was actually looking forward to Vista, and all I have now are headaches. Fortunately, Elizabeth Hurley is the ultimate headache relief. I’d imagine that’s true for whatever team you play on. 🙂 I did not catch Elton’s birthday event, but some pretty amazing people showed up, so I’m betting you are right!

borysSNORC… My problem is that the OS is so locked down that even simple chores are difficult. Even worse, there is NO FRICKIN’ CONSISTENCY IN THE INTERFACE! I shudder to think how much time I waste with Vista because I can’t find a menu item or don’t know where to look so I can do something. Piss-poor UI design. I’m back to XP now. If you simply must use Windows, it’s the only way to go.

Tracy Lynn… I wanted to like Vista… really I did. I was looking forward to having a Windows OS that didn’t suck for those times I am forced to use it, but this monstrosity they have unleashed is just terrible. I wonder how many people who purchased Vista end up going back to XP?

    Laurence… All true. 🙂

Sizzle… You and me both! Even more surprising, I am no longer ashamed to admit that I am a fan of Will Ferrell!

ChillyWilly… iTunes Music Store doesn’t carry ANY Simpsons episodes. FOX has quite a few good shows up (like 24, Buffy, and Firefly) but no Simpsons or Family Guy, which would be big sellers. As I said, I simply do not understand it.

Diane… I did indeed. My friend subscribes, and so I got to take a look. Liz is amazing no matter what she does. 🙂

Kyle… Yes. Though I don’t know anybody who actually believes that. Even the latest report that somehow showed Windows as the “most secure OS” have been quickly debunked as well. But Microsoft must be doing something right… 20 million units of an OS whose most amazing new feature is an “open window shuffle” that is time-consuming and useless compared to the Mac’s “Expose?” WTF?

Kevin… You haven’t seen Will Ferrell’s impersonation of James Lipton from Inside The Actor’s Studio? Hmmm… perhaps that’s a reference that’s a bit TOO obscure!

Sandra… Apparently I’m not the only one with a Will Ferrell mental defect, so yes… I feel much better! 🙂

  18. Dave Evanns says:

    Yeah, Elizabeth hurley – YUM.

I too laugh at the Blades of Glory trailers everytime, I will probably go see it as well.

  19. Bre says:

That deep pink is a fabulous color on her!

  20. I’m so going to see ‘Blades of Glory’. Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, and Jenna Fischer are in it so you know it’s got to be good.

  21. shari says:

Honestly, former SNL greats in movies usually disappoint me, but I’m secretly planning to see Blades of Glory anyway. Well, I guess it’s not secretly anymore…

  22. Bec says:

One of the guys at work got Vista on his PC and dribbled on about how fantastic it was. After he looked at my Mac for about five minutes he shut up, and later admitted that he had been screwed. He is seeing if he can take his PC back,,, to (his words) upgrade to a Mac!

  23. I’ve loved Will Ferrell since his SNL days (Bewitched was a bomb, though). Betty White has always been hilarious. I used to watch her on “Password” when I was a kid and she made me laugh then — it was a game show for petessake and I loved it!

  24. yellojkt says:

Liz got married twice just to rub it in your face. I would dump the bitch so that I can pick her up on the rebound.

  25. walt says:

    Dave:

NBC and Fox just joined forces last week by announcing a joint venture to put their shows on the web. So, good news greed has surfaced and you soon will be able to purchase shows.
