I do not know the context, & don’t need to know, but I hear this too often, usually coupled with something like “Forgiveness is for you, not for the person that harmed you.” Sorry, but I’m willing to accept the fact that my unwillingness to forgive is just a defect of character. I’ve only forgiven a few people and it’s always come back to bite me in the ass. “Forgive & forget”, not just NO, but HELL NO! I know I hold grudges, but it takes a lot to get me to hold one, and the negative feelings that took me there do fade away over time, but the grudge stands. Again, I’m ok with this defect of character.
