Today I got sidetracked by somebody asking me a travel question. I didn't know the answer off the top of my head, and ended up having to look through old photos to find the answer. This was a serious mistake, because you can't ever just look at one photo... so I ended up wasting an hour of precious time going back through my dozens of travel albums.
It then occurred to me that if you were to erase all the travel I've done from my life, I would be one of the most boring people on earth.
Because, let's face it, outside of travel I don't really do much of anything. Except work.
I don't have any hobbies. I'm not involved in any sports. I don't belong to any clubs or groups. I don't get involved in community activities. I don't have kids.
I can't Limbo.
Hell, even this blog would have never happened if it weren't for my travels. Blogography was started solely as a way to keep my friends and family informed as to where I was traveling!
Oddly enough, I'm perfectly okay with this.
Because there's nothing I'd rather do with my life than fill in as many holes on my travel map as I can before I die...

As you can see, I've got a lot of living yet to do.

What I find interesting from your map is the lack of visits to Africa and South America. You might have visited Africa if I squint a little bit.
Are these areas that you have no interest in visiting or just haven’t had the opportunity to do so? Would love to know what is on your bucket list other than Antarctica.
I’ve been to Egypt and Tunisia in Africa. I’ve been to Columbia in South America. I’d love to visit more places in both countries, but I have other priorities first (India, New Zealand, and Antarctica). I may get to Peru in there sometime in-between, however.
One could argue whether Egypt/Tunisia are representative for Africa and whether or not Sub-Saharan Africa isn’t something entirely different…
You’ve never been to Greenland!!!!
(me neither…I’ve never been anywhere)
Oh sure, get me addicted to adding places to my TripAdvisor map….
I knew that you started your blog to keep your friends and family abreast of your travels since I’ve been reading you for ages now. It struck me as funny this time because I have a friend who convinced me to join Facebook for the same purpose of keeping track of his travels.
His updates read like this: Berlin. Beirut. LA. NYC. Jordan.
One word per post mind you.
Thank you for all the extra content you’ve provided over the years!
No Greenland, but I see Iceland with a mark (I seem to remember your blog posts on this visit)
What’s wrong with liking to travel??????????? I live vicariously through you.
