iPhoneless

Posted on Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Dave!I try really hard not to be a whiny little bitch on my blog. Honestly, I do. The fact that I am rarely successful at it is not for lack of conviction, but circumstance. Such as waking up this morning and having to read a bajillion people talking about how cool their new iPhone is.

Of course, I wouldn't know.

Despite the fact that I am a Total Apple Whore, I don't have an iPhone yet. I won't even get to look at one until I'm in Seattle next week. Needless, to say, I'm a little sad about that...

No iPhone for You!

I've read so much about people and their love of their iPhone that I can almost imagine what it must be like to have one... but then I glance over at my piece of shit mobile phone and realize that my imagination isn't that good.

Sigh. I guess I'll just go over to Apple.com and look at iPhone pictures for an hour or two...

i won’t have an iphone for a while either. despite how badly i want one. the fact of the matter is, i don’t NEED one. we barely use the prepaid cell phone we have. plus, with all the money we are forking out to get married, and how much money i am paying canada to let me stay here… well, i just can’t justify it.

    and that makes me sad.

  2. Avitable says:

I think you should just print out a picture of one on card stock paper and carry it around in the meantime.

  3. MRKisThatKid says:

How did bad monkey manage to get one?!?!

  4. Stephanie P says:

Dave, forgive me for asking this, but if you have hours to spend enjoying photos at Apple.com, could you not spend that time driving to Seattle? You could pick up a new phone AND hang out and show it off to your Seattle friends. Just a thought…

  5. Rob says:

I’m right there with ya Dave. My problem isn’t the distance to an Apple store. It’s the price. If only I had enough blood.

  6. bogup says:

Avitable’s idea about printing up a cardboard fake iPhone is a great idea. Esp if you press the imaginary buttons to “place calls” and walk around talking into it.
BTW, just wondering if your area has an involuntary commitment center?

  7. Poor, poor Dave2. So put upon. So very disappointed in his Mac-whore-ness. My heart just bleeds buckets for you.

Okay, no it doesn’t – but my eyes do roll on your behalf. Does THAT help? 😛

  8. Laurence says:

I am with you ! Think about me… I must wait december and I cry !

  9. Our father, who art in Apple,
    iPhone be thy name.
    Thy Mac-dom come,
    Thy will be done,
With music as it will be delivered.
Give us this day our daily tech
    And forgive us for Windows
As we forgive Bill who wants to be us.
    Lead us not into smugness
    But deliver us from boring.
For thine is the coolest, and hippest, and trendiest,
    Forever and ever. Amen.

  10. whit says:

It’s going to be a while for me too. I want one bad. Very bad.

  11. Hilly says:

There, there….it will be okay. Just think how much better it will be after all that hot anticipation. Oh wait, it’s a phone…not sex ;).

  12. Bec says:

Want, need, have to have… right there with (well, 4 months behind) you…

Looks like the UKs carrier is going to be Vodafone so a network change for me then!

  13. Jeff says:

Just promise us “regular” phone users you’ll be sensitive and won’t rub it in our faces about how cool your new phone is when you get one.

    Hahahahaha!

I know, I crack me up.

  14. Robin says:

All those who do not have an iPhone raise their hand. (see mine waving in the air).

See Dave, you are not alone in your lack of iPhone-ness.

    ; )

  15. Pauly D says:

I waited in line on Friday night for TWO HOURS, in a line of 1500 people in Los Angeles. As we neared the curve and got closer to the store we were told we “might not get one.”

I was luckily able to grab me one of them when all was said and done.

Needless to say — you can imagine that it is absolutely amazing. I can’t believe how well of a job Apple did, even being the Mac whore that I am. It’s not flawless but it’s better than anything I’ve ever owned.

That being said — I’m ebaying my Blackberry, Samsung UpStage and an iSight if anyone’s interested.

  16. Anthony says:

What phone do you have at the moment?

  17. Amanda says:

aw poor lil dave looks so sad

  18. kilax says:

We love you the most when you are being a whiny little bitch! 😉

  19. Wayne says:

Do you already know you want one? If so, can’t you buy it online? or do you need to see it first?

  20. Bre says:

When I was in our local Apple store yesterday computer shopping, the iPhone counter was about 6 people deep. I must say, I oggled a bit and it looks just about as lovely as it is made out to be!

  21. Göran says:

at least you can get your hands on one within a week or two, I have to wait 6 months!!! My life is in shatters! 🙂
