Day Five: Corfu, Greece

Posted on Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Dave!Today's shore excursion was further northward to the sunny island of Corfu.

And when I say "sunny" I mean "absurdly sunny" because the light is so bright that my sunglasses were rendered practically useless. This made photography kind of difficult, even with my polarizing filter, because entire scenes were blotted out by the glare. Still, there were nice views to be had amongst the massive number of tourists overrunning the island, and Corfu Town itself was quite nice. The excursion tour that I booked didn't have a lot of substance to it, but was entertaining enough, and sure beat sitting on the ship all day...

Corfu Town

One of the stops on the tour was the summer palace of Empress Elizabeth of Austria called "Achilleio," named after the greek hero Achilles. It was badly over-decorated and garish, but there were a few interesting bits. One of my favorites was a beautiful half-dome mural in the home's small chapel which was brilliantly detailed...

But that paled in comparison to the detail that some sculptor put into the ass of an Achilles statue in the garden...

Achilles Ass

The guy may be dying from a poison arrow shot into his heel, but his ass still looks fabulous!

Tomorrow there will be no port of call, as it is to be a day at sea. I always go a little bit stir-crazy on days at sea, so here's hoping that I don't freak out and try to escape the ship in an ice bucket.

  1. Lela says:

That mural is gorgeous–the colors, wow!

  2. Karl says:

Wow, it’s like they modeled it after my own rock hard ass.

  3. Avitable says:

They must have used my ass as a model.

  4. Lewis says:

God, the ass is rock hard…despite the arrow. And, I have to disagree…..I love the days at sea. Got so tired of the ports of call. But, in Greece, that may be a different scenario. Wishing you well!

  5. Joefish says:

haha… thanks for the ass photo, Dave.

  6. Suzanne says:

Back in 84, my sister and I did one of those cheapie student bus tours of Europe. You know, like 500 countries in six days.

We actually got to spend three days on Corfu at Club Med, which was pretty sweet after having to be on a bus every morning at 7am for most of the month. Some of my fondest memories from that trip took place on Corfu.

    *sigh* Thanks for reminding me.

Enjoy your day at sea! Have lots of ice cream to distract youself.

  7. Beth says:

Wow, free ice cream and a good piece of ass – sounds like a perfect day to me!! You are a very lucky dude. Have fun!

  8. Whoo-hoo! I love that ass picture 😀

  9. Hilly says:

Oh look, every guy thinks it’s HIS ass! Dave’s blog…Dave’s ass, people ;).

If you get stir crazy, try making ice cream cones for all the pretty women and see how far that gets you ;).

  10. karla says:

After a heinous day where nothing in my blog world has gone right, it was very nice to see a nice piece of ass. And kudos to you for being man enough to recognize a nice ass even if it is a guy’s.

Eat ice cream tomorrow on your sailing day….just eat all day long.

  11. birdie2u says:

Gotta love that tush! Now, if only he’d roll over….

  12. kristin says:

That is one well-defined asscrack. Dang. Wouldn’t want to get a thing stuck in there.

  13. Bre says:

Ahhh a butt shot. Now my day is complete.

  14. hannita says:

I think we need a print of that ass in the store…

  15. Dustin says:

Wait, you didn’t tell me you were on a cruise! Okay, guess thats my own negligent fault, but still, please tell me you’ve ordered room service to the Jacuzzi.

P.S. Sorry to hear about the over abundance of sunlight (“Ze goggles, zey do nussing…”)

  16. MRKisThatKid says:

Will you be hitting cyprus? I loved that island, there isn’t even much there really but something magical, something unexplainable.

  17. RW says:

Hmmm… that guy leaning over, under the lady holding the baby… is he.. is he wearing a Bad Monkey Shirt!!?

  18. Patty says:

Think I would have loved the scenery back then, especially the men. HA! Greece looks awesome. I don’t like cruise boats too much but at least you will see a lot in a short time.

  19. Dave2 says:

Lela… And the photo doesn’t even begin to do it justice, if you can believe it!

Karl & Avitable… Yes, when I first saw it, I was having a hard time deciding which of your asses it looked like most.

Lewis… Days at sea are boring to me. I’m not a “lay around the pool all day” kind of guy, and would rather be on shore exploring somewhere.

    Joefish… You are welcome!

Suzanne… Despite being all touristy, Corfu has some beautiful sites. The weather is certainly amazing.

Beth… Well, it’s not exactly the kind of ass that I usually go for… but one should never look a gift-ass in the mouth. Errr… or something like that.

Geeky Tai Tai… Just let me know if you want it giant-size for a desktop picture!

Hilly… All the pretty women here are 80 years old. So, unless they have massive bank accounts, I’ll be keeping the ice cream to myself, thanks!

Karla… As an artist, it is hard for me not to appreciate such a fine piece of stone ass… even if it is on Achilles. A pity that they didn’t have a statue of Aphrodite though, because talk about a sweet stone ass…

Birdie… Rumor has it that Achilles has a tiny dick, so you’re probably not missing anything. 🙂

Kristin… Uhh… what “thing” do you go around sticking in ass cracks? Hopefully you are talking about a rag with some marble polish on it?

Bre… I am to please, even while on vacation.

Hannita… How about I have a sculpture created of my own ass, then sell plaster reproductions?

Dustin… Dang it! Next time I send you my travel plans, I will do so via Registered Mail so I can be sure you’ll receive them! Room service food doesn’t include an ice cream cone option, unfortunately, so I’ll be going out to eat.

    MRK… I dunno… I haven’t really looked at the whole itinerary. I don’t think so though. 🙁

RW… No. But he would have been if I had a ladder and some paints on me…

Patty… Yes, Greece is good for cruising, even if you don’t usually like it!

  20. Jacki says:

Good idea Dave! That picture yould look good on my desktop.

  21. Laurence says:

    Simply beautiful ! 🙂
