Dave!I managed to ship out 103 orders before the issuing bank of my credit card decided that something fishy might be going on and decided to refuse authorization of any further charges. This happened once before, but I thought that it had been resolved. Apparently not. One more thing to fix tomorrow.

When you're working your ass off all day long, a lot of stuff outside of work piles up that you don't find out about until you get home. I used to have a news feed going on my desktop, but once I got addicted to Twitter, something had to give. Otherwise I'd never get anything done at all.

First of all, one of my favorite actors ever, Morgan Freeman, has been involved in a serious car accident. While discussing The Dark Night with a co-worker this morning, I had mentioned that I would have watched the film even if I hated Batman (as if!) because I love Morgan Freeman so much. He's been in some not-so-great films... but his performance is always exceptional, and I'll see anything he's involved in. My most heart-felt wishes for a speedy recovery, Mr. Freeman...

Next up? They've released an update to the v2 iPhone OS that fixes "bugs." After installing it, I will admit that my iPhone feels a bit snappier... BUT THEY STILL DON'T ALLOW YOU TO SYNC EXTERNAL SUBSCRIBED CALENDARS!! This is horse shit. All of my travel plans are stored on the most excellent TripIt site, so I need to subscribe to its calendar so I can keep up with my schedule. FAIL! FUCKING FAIL!! ULTIMATE APPLE FAIL!!!

In better news, one of my first super-hero favorites... Green Lantern... has entered production as a movie. Ordinarily I'd be dreading this because B-list super-heroes always get shitty movie treatments by assholes who think that the characters "need fixing." But there are several things going on here in Green Lantern's favor: 1) Recent box office smashes by The Dark Knight and Iron Man prove that these movies are most successful WHEN YOU RESPECT THE FUCKING SOURCE MATERIAL! Hopefully production will take note. 2) They are using the real Green Lantern here... Hal Jordan. 3) The writer on the project is Greg Berlanti, the guy responsible for quality stuff like Everwood, Brothers & Sisters, and Eli Stone! Please, please, please let them get this right... because a good Green Lantern movie could seriously kick ass!

Last up, I am getting ready to leave soon, so if you're in the Chicago area this Saturday (or in the St. Louis area next Saturday) and want to meet up with a great group of bloggers, please send a message to me at dave@blogography.com and I'll get you hooked up with all the details!

And now... time to wash underwear.

Why is it that no matter how many pairs of boxers I buy, I'm forever running out?

  1. B.E. Earl says:

I’d love to see a Green Arrow/Green Lantern team-up onscreen. Ollie and Hal on the trail of the American Dream.

(I always kinda liked Guy Gardner, for some reason. His early appearances mostly. Not the over-the-top comic stuff)

  2. Another tripit user! Swoon!

  3. Winter says:

I love the Green Lantern. I hope they do a good job on it. The way Hollywood is, that’s probably a useless wish though.

  4. Tori says:

    dave in boxers… mmmm… where’s that tshirt?

  5. joy says:

I love, love, LOVE Morgan Freeman too. When I first read about this serious condition earlier, I panicked! So relieved to find out he’s doing better. He is amazing. I love your pic for him too.

  6. Karl says:

Ooh, a Green Lantern movie? This is the first I’ve heard of it. I used to love Lantern as a kid. Lots of potential there. I hope that they don’t screw it up.

  7. Justin Scott says:

I feel you re: Morgan Freeman. He is one of my favorite male actors in company with Edward Norton and John Cusack, Micheal Cane and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Oh and while MobileMe has been working for me as advertised, I agree, total fail in the calendar department. No syncing with Google Calendars? Not even subscriptions? Not even other MobileMe subscriptions? NOT EVEN THE BIRTHDAY CALENDAR IT MAKES?!!!

Plus I can’t figure out why my iPhone puts all of my new contacts into my MS Exchange address book, not my MobileMe address book. Grrr. And we all know what happened when I upgraded to iTunes 7.7.1 http://snurl.com/38b08

  8. Poppy says:

That seems like a rhetorical question. Are you trying to trick us?

  9. Christian says:

Chain Reaction was high theater compared to the festering cesspool known as Nurse Betty. Talk about a movie that was nothing like it’s ads. A mate and I hired it thinking our wives would enjoy it and that we’d find it fairly passable as well, on the grounds that the ads here made it sound like a chick flick. I think we are both still apologising for that one.

  10. Avitable says:

Excuse me, but the real Green Lantern is clearly G’nort.

  11. ETinNY says:

Yay! got email from USPS saying my package made it before ‘the great credit card meltdown of 08’. I hope you didn’t have to carry too many packages back to the car. I wish Morgan Freeman a speedy recovery, too. He alway seems to add such credibility to his characters…(‘cept for another lame Stephen King film “Dreamcatcher”. I especially liked his character as the very first black president (pre-Obama) in “Deep Impact” (the other comet-strikes-the-earth-movie in the Summer of a decade ago.)

  12. kilax says:

Did you like The Bucket List?

  13. sizzle says:

Morgan Freeman is one of my favorites too. I would also buy any book he read on tape/cd because the sound of his voice soothes me, even if it was a crap book.

    Get better Morgan Freeman!

  14. delmer says:

This past Christmas season I ran about $1800 up on my credit card on electronics and similar things. All in like two days.

My card was eventually shut off because the bank questioned a $25.00 “Lawn and Garden” charge (the bike shop I go to is part of a Lawn and Garden place.)

They’s shut me down one other time for something equally as odd.

  15. Ren says:

I think “Chain Reaction” was way better than “Dreamcatcher”. Probably better than “Nurse Betty” or “The Big Bounce” as well. But you’re right, Morgan Freeman is amazing.

  16. Chris says:

1 – your bank is just concerned that you’re shipping rocks of crack through the postal service and they want their cut
2 – Morgan Freeman was in an accident? I really really need to read something other than blogs once in a while
3 – I freakin’ love the Green Lantern and just wet myself a little bit reading that they’re making a movie
4 – if you’d quit leaving your boxers at all your trick’s houses you’d quit running out

  17. Whit says:

Hal Jordan rules. I can’t wait.

  18. Tracy Lynn says:

I have so much underwear that I could change it three times a day and still have enough pairs to get through the month.

Because commando is not an option.

  19. Finn says:

I adore Morgan Freeman. I have since he was in “The Electric Company.” Yes, I am OLD.

  20. ChillyWilly says:

I have at least 30 pairs of boxers, but always seem to be doing laundry and folding them.

Wishing Morgan the best for a speedy recovery.

And I got an email from Artificial Duck. Can’t wait to get my cards and Bad Monkey T.

  21. Carla says:

I think DC should start its own studio like Marvel did. I think that contributed to the successful stories for Iron Man and Hulk. I only wish it had been done sooner to save X-Men 3 the butt raping it received from one Brent Ratner.

  22. I stopped watching TV years ago and gave up news feeds recently, so now I’m totally of the loop. I also hope Morgan Freeman will be okay!

  23. Lewis says:

So, I have no idea what I’m talking about here, but my honey’s work calendar is synced to his gmail calendar which, in turns, is synced to his Iphone easily….he keeps on talking about how easy his calendar is on his Iphone…..could you do the same thing? As for the boxer shorts, screw it….go commando.

  24. John says:

Terrible news about Morgan Freeman, but great that he’s expected to make a full recovery and that the lady he was traveling with wasn’t seriously hurt. : )

  25. kapgar says:

I’m pulling for Morgan Freeman too. I love him and his acting. Fantastic guy that seems like he’d be that way in real life, too. Kinda like Tom Hanks. Both seem pretty genuine.

  26. walter Lansberry says:

    Dave:

I received the stuff I ordered and just wanted to let you know I love it! I’ve had three people ask me where I got the hat (monkey peace in orange). Thanks for putting together some really good quality prints. I’ve had some of my most favorite shirts fade away and turn nasty but all of my Blogography stuff continues to look like new wash after wash. Don’t mean to sound like a commercial but finding folks that care about their products seems to be rare theses days. Best wishes and thanks!

    Walt

  27. Really?!? A Green Lantern flick?!? Do you think it’ll be an early comic book Green Lantern or the more recent Justice League ex-Marine Green Lantern? Su-weet!

And the credit card? Not authorizing any more charges? Yeah, that was Avitable. Buying truck loads of Diet Coke. Ssssshhhh. I wasn’t supposed to tell.

  28. Kyle Baldwin says:

The green lantern movie will totally be awesome. My neighbor is ethan vansciver the guy who drew the green lantern rebirth series and hes been brought on as a consultant for the movie. from what he’s been telling me its going to be a great movie.

  29. Kevin says:

Haven’t seen Iron Man yet. Looks like it’ll be hitting DVD on Sept 30 (http://geeksofdoom.com/2008/08/08/iron-man-ultimate-edition-dvd-blu-ray-details/) Can’t wait!
