Least

Posted on Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Dave! One day soon I'm no longer going to be able to contain myself on the political news going on here in these United States. But for now I am content to bite my tongue. In the meanwhile, I can only hope that people take some time to really investigate the candidates before casting their vote. It's the least one can do.

This morning I had to fly back to Spokane so I could drive back home. This was kind of sad, because there are a lot worse places you can spend Labor Day Weekend than Portland, Oregon. But if I had stayed I would have undoubtedly spent most of my time going bankrupt in Powell's City of Books, so maybe this was for the best.

Since my schedule was completely disrupted by my last minute pilgrimage to Beaverton, I've got a lot of catching up to do. This means actually working though the Labor Day weekend, but I'm not feeling bad about it. I leave for two weeks of vacation in just eleven days, so who cares? Right now the very idea of "vacation" seems unreal, but that hasn't kept me from counting the days.

In other news, I've decided that I am sleeping-in until noon tomorrow. Go me.

I love Powell’s. There are far worse places to spend Labor Day.

  2. Amanda says:

What do you mean “investigate the candidates”? A woman for a woman, right? Who cares about experience, when you have a woman with a lifetime NRA membership? That’s what’ll win those votes

  3. ETinNY says:

Dave, I’m sure that we all give you special dispensation on political matters. I’ll start it off by repeating the best one that I’ve heard so far: “Dan Quayle in a pantsuit”.

  4. Christian says:

Here’s a political comment from an interested Aussie: is McCain deliberately attempting to lose this election? From a few of the terrible political ads, to his VC nominee, I can’t see a whole lot of intelligent work going on. Unless he is hoping that the majority of the minority of citizens who vote will vote on race rather than quality.

  5. RW says:

For Christian from Australia – Personally I have never seen a more cynical and pandering campaign here in the states than the one being run by McCain. They have taken the standard Republican track of divide and conquer to a whole new level. That they believe this woman from Alaska will scoop up the women’s vote – despite the fact that Clinton’s supporters won’t agree with her on any point of issue – is an astonishing insult to them. Once folks look at the record, it won’t wash.

On the other hand, if it works; then women who go from Hillary to Sarah strictly because she’s a woman regardless of the issues and she wins…? deserve the government they get.

  6. Lewis says:

Noon? Wow. Why don’t we just say that you just happen to leave the front door unlocked, just slightly cracked open, and let’s just say that you sleep naked….face down….and let’s just say that………..

  7. I, for one, would absolutely love to read one of your political rants one of these days. It’s your blog, say whatever you want without the fear of holding back sir.

  8. maman says:

Books! Powells! yes! although I do Powells in Chicago… ‘cuz I am old school that way.

  9. Bumper Sticker:
Obama & Biden ’08: Two minds are better than none.

Would you put this on your car bumper? I sure as hell would!!!

  10. kapgar says:

The problem with our country is that few people do take the time to investigate and that saddens me. This whole party affiliation thing is the biggest load of crap. Blind voting is all it results in.

  11. Jeff says:

I for one (or another after reading Kevin SPencer’s post) would love to read your political commentary.

  12. Jeff says:

Come on Dave, let her blow!

Uh… your political rant I mean.

  13. Michelle says:

Well I’m looking forward to your political rant. So rant away.
