Dave!Well today totally sucked ass.

Just as I knew it would. I expected it to suck ass. Somehow I thought this foresight would make it easier to live through to the rain of shit that fell all over my life, but I was wrong. So wrong. With every new horror that popped up, I was worn down just a little further. I haven't measured my height or anything, but I must be at least 3 feet shorter than I started out this morning. And my head hurts.

But there was a bright spot when I woke up and saw that USA Today has a sneak peak at the new Speed Racer movie in production. And the photos are incredible. Word is that the Wachowski Brothers are creating a movie unlike anything seen before (not a surprise considering they were also responsible for The Matrix)...

Speed Racer

I was a massive fan of the original Speed Racer cartoon when I was a kid (it had a monkey in it!), and am really psyched to see how this film is going to play out. Unfortunately, I have a long five months to wait. In the meanwhile, I guess I'll just go stare at the sneak peak photos again, and play make-believe Speed Racer like I used to...

Dave Racer

And then prepare myself for yet another crappy day tomorrow.

UPDATE: The Speed Racer teaser trailer is now online. This is going to be so cool. Look, it's Chim Chim!!

Did you get a chance to see Betty White on Ugly Betty tonight? (With the time difference, has it been on yet?)

  2. kilax says:

ooo, Speed Racer is going to be sweet!

Hope tomorrow is a better day… if not, you can hole up at home over the weekend?

  3. bogup says:

So the “M” on the helmet is for “Monkey”? Right?

  4. RW says:

Little Dave’s scarf is at a somewhat rakish angle there.

  5. Hilly says:

You know what I’ve learned by being friends with you? That sometimes, under dire circumstances, it *is* okay to offer a hug over the internet. I’d rather hug you in person but yanno….sending you a virtual hug anyway :).

  6. sizzle says:

i’m concerned. you’ve had an onslaught of craptastic days lately.

should i fed ex a cupcake!?

  7. Mooselet says:

I’m digging the neck kerchief Dave. First the dress, and now this. Wonder what’s on tap for tomorrow.

Sorry you’re having such a crappy time of it.

  8. Catherine says:

Dave! I totally loved Speed Racer, too. I was beyond intrigued with Racer X, the coolest thing ever. I have always loved cartoons and comic strips.

  9. James says:

I was woefully unimpressed with the Speed Racer trailer. I have no prior experience with it, so I was just judging it from a movie standpoint, and at this point I am not interested.

  10. Dave2 says:

Hmmm… well, there’s a new Sex And The City movie trailer out if you think that’s more your SPEED. Ha ha ha! SPEED! get it?? I slay me!!

  11. diane says:

Awww! Hooray, I had not heard anything about the Speedracer movie. I loved that show!
By the way, if you don’t want Sizzle’s cupcake, she can Fed Ex it to me. 😉

  12. NYCWD says:

    OMG. That trailer looks INSANE.

    5 months seems like forever…

  13. Robin says:

I think you should consume massive amounts of chocolate pudding today—to make for your crappy day yesterday.

  14. Wayne says:

You kinda look like Evil Kneivel (rest his soul). But your pants need more red and blue.

  15. tori says:

I used to love speed racer! When my husband and I were dating we used to watch it all the time. I remember we used to joke around about when they were under a car the cartoon took on a bluish tint. When things are blue (pictures that aren’t developed correctly, paint chips, or whatever) we say “it must have been under a car” which I just realized doesn’t make any sense to anyone but us and we probably sound really stupid when we say it around other people. And yes, now I am done sharing nonsensical things for today. You can laugh at me and maybe feel better, right?

  16. Avitable says:

I never watched Speed Racer as a kid, but this looks like a fun, bizarre movie. I’m looking forward to it, too.

  17. andi says:

As a way to cheer you up after a crappy day, you can check out the latest Ugly Betty that starred Betty White. You might be perked up by that.

  18. Even when you’re having a crappy day you find a way to put a smile on the rest of our faces. Thanks for sharing (I’m stoked about this movie; those images look great!) and today’s ‘toon is the bees knees… You rock!

  19. Not A Granny says:

I wonder if there will be as much “hmmm” and “awww!!” in this movie as there was in the cartoon?

Speed Racer was one of my favorites also.

  20. Bre says:

I was never a big “Speed Racer” girl, but I rather enjoy how all of my childhood memories are coming back to the big screen!

  21. kapgar says:

Emile Hirsch, eh? Not bad. I think I can handle this movie. Was never too big on Speed Racer, but I can learn it.

  22. ChillyWilly says:

Loved Speed Racer as a kid. I’m excited to see the movie. Will have to go check out the trailer when I’m back on faster broadband (currently sitting in Orlando airport via EVDO connection)
