As somebody who has been a chronic insomniac for the better part of a decade, being sick this past weekend has opened up an entirely new door to me: that of a full-night's sleep.
And a full-day's sleep as well.
I've been doing pretty much nothing but sleeping for the past three days. And, given that I usually average a measly 4-5 hours per night, this is an unfamiliar situation to me. Absolutely nothing got done this weekend. Not even any work, which is going to make for a painful week since I was already several days behind.
Assuming I can even make it to work in the morning.
Whatever bug I have is totally kicking my ass. Though today I did start eating again, so I'm interpreting this as a sign that I'm on the road back to health.
Now what I really need is a shower... and a box of Cracker Jacks.
Don't ask me why, they just sound good.

Get well, Dave. Wishing you better times ahead.
I really hope you feel better… it sucks and is a little scary to be that sick.
Cracker Jacks are probably not the best thing for you. Follow my logic here: Sick Dave opens Cracker Jacks Box, He’s so hungry, he justs tilts the box up as he weakly leans his sick head against the pillow. Dave accidentally swallows the awful, 3-D picture prize and chokes to death, too weak to call 911.
Maybe some soup for now. Cracker Jacks later.
The good news is that calories consumed while sick are excused because your body demands them.
Also, if it makes you feel better, I didn’t do much more than you did this weekend – what else are 3-day holidays for?
I’m guessing you’re thinking the sticky cracker jack goodness will cling to the bugs in the throat, esophagus, stomach, intestines, etc and carry them away for you.
How about a shower OF Cracker Jacks, hmm?
Hmm… I’ve never had Cracker jacks in the shower before. That’s a new one.
I’m sorry you’re still sick. 🙁
Sometimes getting your appetite back after being sick will give you the weirdest cravings. Can’t say I’ve ever jonesed for Cracker Jacks myself, but if it’s what you want, more power to you. 🙂
Glad you’re starting to feel better, hope you mend soon. And I’m glad you’ve got some sleep!
Maybe you could hire Bad Monkey as a temp and have him help you catch up. It sucks to have a backlog of work to face. Sick people should get to ease back into things.
Don’t ask me why, but this post made me think someone should invent some Cracker Jack flavored shnapps! Mmmmm …
The return of your appetite is a good thing. Beware the relapse; when you feel well enough to start pounding away at that backlog of work, don’t overdo it.
Sleep is good. Take care.
Did you have Cracker Jack on hand or did you have to go out and buy it? I don’t know anybody that keeps Cracker Jack in the pantry.
It’s great that you are getting some sleep.
It’s sucks that you will be behind at work.
Cracker Jacks get real sticky in the shower and the peanuts clog up the drain.
But, Dave2, whatever makes you happy (and well)… Actually, Cheeto’s require a shower with a lot of soap after eating them. That I know.
I am sorry that you don’t feel well! I hope that eating Cracker Jacks starts making you feel better soon.
I always want the strangest crackheaded food when I am sick! I hope you get well soon!
insomnia is just an alcoholics excuse for drinkin enough to pass out.
I hope you’re feeling better soon!
I always crave sweets when I’m getting over being sick. I justify it by saying my body NEEDS sugar to get better. Why else would it be craving it? Hence why I piled cookie dough, ice cream and chocolate into my basket to help get over my last bout of strep. It worked! (or maybe it was just the antibiotics?)
Officially worried now. Feel better soon! It seems you left traces of your ebola flu behind–luckily everyone I know who has been sick seems to get over it in 24 hours, so you must have taken the mothership of germs with you!
