Dave!I don't feel good.

I woke up this morning and the room was spinning. It was like a hangover, but without the benefit of having gotten drunk the night before. I'm thinking that it might be that avian bird flu that's going 'round. I should have liked to stay in bed all day, but I have a quick trip to get ready for.

Before I leave town, it's customary to back-up my PowerBook just in case somebody should steal it. Now that I have my Mac Mini Server in place, it's a piece of cake. Enjoyable even. Then afterwards, just to be sure everything went okay, I randomly open some files. That's when this DaveToon came up...

Dave N Jack

I had absolutely no recollection of drawing it or even if I had used it (yep, I had), but it's kind of ironic because this is exactly how I feel today.

If only I had that fifth of Jack Daniels to blame.

Pork Rinds chased by Jack Daniels. That sounds like someone who’s just not thinking.

  2. Naomi says:

“…just in case someone should steal it…”

Aragggghhhh!!!!! Sore subject as someone has absconded with the newer of mine… Bastards!!!!

  3. Bec says:

Mmmm… Jack Daniels… I’m currently suffering post exercise tiredness/pain without the benefit of any kind of exercise.

  4. jodi says:

that is exactly what i am going to do with my mini. use it for my backups. i just lost EVERYTHING on my powerbook at work, because we have no system of backup in place for mac users. hard drive failure. NOW they tell me that most mac users get an external firewire drive too, in order to back up stuff. well, i never asked. but still. it hurts. i don’t want something to happen to my personal powerbook.

  5. That cartoon makes me not feel good. Bleh.

    Hope you’re feeling well soon.

  6. sandra says:

Due to an afternoon spent cleaning out my room (and unpacking boxes from my move almost two months ago) — accompanied by way too much wine — I could use some pork rinds.

  7. Tracy Lynn says:

For some reason, that cartoon reminded me of Grandpa. No wonder my dad ran away to join the Air Force.
    Hope you feel better.

  8. Eve says:

My room-spinning ailment is contagious, I see. Dude, you’re scaring me, and I’m already scared, because I’m scared for myself. Get it? I know why my room is spinning, but why is yours???

While I don’t recommend the Jack and Rinds combo, I do like the purple chair in this davetoon.

  9. adena says:

How does a vegetarian eat Pork Rinds, anyhow?

  10. Erin says:

Love the stained wife beater. It just seems to go with the Jack and the pork rinds. Yuck.

  11. Neil T. says:

Pork rinds + Jack Daniels + Coke = Crazy Delicious. Had it on several nights out.

Only downer is that the pork rinds we get around here about 50% fat. You usually only get small bags as a result.

  12. Tink says:

Cartoon Dave is secretly a redneck?

  13. shannon says:

I can’t stand pork rinds, but my hubby loves them. Did you know you can buy them “poppable” where they come un-inflated in popcorn-like bags that you pop in the microwave to inflate them up to their edible size…if you consider them edible, that is. Apparantly they go well with Jack and or beer. The smell they leave in my kitchen after being popped is ridiculous and lingering. It’s no wonder he has stomach issues.

  14. Mikey says:

LOLOL It’s cartoon Dave (Al) Bundy. Where’s Peg? Have a good trip!!

  15. Jeff says:

Pork rinds have pork in them?

  16. adena says:

I’m pretty sure they’re fried pork skin.

    *gak*

  17. Chanakin says:

Rinds, as in orange peels. I just can’t make the culinary connection – like beef cherries.

  18. timothy says:

We once bought “raw” pork rinds at a local festival, took them home and fried them ourselves. They start off so small and just expand. Yes, they really are pig skin. Before they are cooked, they are not unlike the chewy “thingies” you buy for dogs.

  19. Kevin says:

I remember that DaveToon all too well. Cracked me the hell up even back in November. 1/5 of Jack…. yum!

  20. SJ says:

I was just wondering if I was the only current Davefan who was around back then! I guess Kevin and I are the oldtimers. Dave2, what’d you do to run everybody else off? ;>)
