Frosty

Posted on Wednesday, February 16th, 2005

Dave!A while back I had blogged about my first experience eating a Frosty from Wendy's (documented in excruciating, yet amusing, detail here). I then received two comments and an email telling me that I really haven't experienced a Frosty properly until I've dipped french fries into it. And so, bizarre as it sounds, I decided to give it a try on my way out of Wenatchee this afternoon.

As it turns out, dipping french fries into a Frosty is yummy good once you get over how bizarre it feels to be eating cold-hot-salty-sweet all at the same time. Overall, I recommend it heartily. There is one problem, however. Size differential.

I ordered a medium-sized Frosty and a Biggie Fries... and ended up running out of fries long before my Frosty was gone. That left me with lots of Frosty and no fries to dip in it. Bummer. I suppose next time I could order a "Great Biggie Fries" and see if that's enough to make it through. But then there's another dilemma... what happens when the Frosty is so far down in the cup that you can't reach it with a french fry?

I'm guessing it will take some experimentation to find the proper ratio of Frosty to fries. My gut instinct is that it will end up being Biggie Fries and small-sized Frosty. Don't worry, I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Frosty

As typical with me, actually getting my Frosty and fries was not as simple as it might sound. When I got to Wendy's, there was a line of four cars to get through the drive-through. I figured it would be faster if I just run inside.

I figured wrong. Time for anonymous letter number two...

Dave, you so rock. Congrats on being one of the few, the brave the proud…the Frosty Dippers! And yes, the correct ratio of Frosty to Fries is small Frosty and Biggie fries. (The Frosty is more condiment than actual meal component!)
My way to get the Frosty out of the bottom while still getting the fry dipping action is to perch your fry on the spoon, then use the spoon to scoop out the chocolatey goodness. I love those Wendy’s spoons, the bowl is so deep.
Aw crap, now here I am in Norway with no hope in hell of a Wendy’s and craving a Frosty Fries. Damn damn damn. Off to grab the Pringles and Nutella, my only similar substitute. Monkey slapping cow smeller!

And thank you for the dipper tip! 🙂

Sorry you can’t share in my Frosty joy. 🙁

First of all, I want to apologize for putting all of these wrong thoughts into your head. Even I’m starting to get the willies.

Secondly, I’m so glad you tried the Frosty Fries. They are so awesome. I do this with just about any chocalate milkshake from a burger joint, especially at Dick’s in Seattle. The frosty is just the tip top shake like substance because it is so thick, but anywhere will do for me.

I’ve been a vegetarian since 1986… so that means I haven’t been to Dicks in nearly 20 years! For some reason I never thought of going to Dicks for fries and a shake, it’s always been about the burgers. Hmmm… something to think about next time I’m over in Seattle.

My daughter taught me the fine art of fry dipping in Frostys. And while I don’t indulge in fried foods (including french fries) anymore, the rare time I do swipe a fry or two, it’s enjoyable given a Frosty has been ordered.

Wenatchee, WA… apple country… and very nice… it’s been years since I’ve been there. brings back a few memories.

The chocolate frosty is truly delectable all by itself! I’ve had the fries with it to. The frosty is so addictive once you’ve had your first one. The rest is history! By the way I’ve gained no weight and my sugar levels are normal!
