2-Year Blogiversary: DAY SIX

Posted on Saturday, April 23rd, 2005

Dave!Alrighty then... the week-long Blogiversary 2 Kick-Ass Online Celebration has nearly come to a close. All that's left this week is wait for a few entry deadlines to expire at midnight tonight, then arrange to have all the winners selected tomorrow by a impartial 3rd party.

Of course, then the REAL work begins. Notify the winners, collect T-Shirt sizes and shipping charges (where required), place a final T-Shirt order, assemble the prizes, take a drive to Seattle to pick up shirts, then box and mail over 30 packages...

Oh crap! What have I got myself into?!!??

Davewaaahhh!

It's a good thing that my Blogiversary only comes along once a year! And since I didn't celebrate last year, I wanted to be sure this time was something special. I guess another week of work for my adoring readers won't be so bad. And speaking of my adoring readers... I'd like to take a minute to thank everybody for tuning in to help me celebrate. Entries for the Blogiversary prizes exceeded my expectations, and that's very cool indeed. All the nice comments and emails were also much appreciated.

With that being said, there are a handful of readers who I would like to single out for a bit of extra thanks... Jeff, Karen, Kazza, Kimono, and Perry. These guys (and gals) made the extra effort to actually meet up with me in person, and I'd like to send a T-shirt and a little something extra their way to let them know how much I appreciated that. I'll email you for your shipping information when the prizewinner notifications go out tomorrow.

Anyway, thanks again for tuning in, and I'll start making plans for next year...

Movie Quotable of the Day: "Only a man whose heart is pure can wield the knife, and only a man whose ass is narrow can get down these steps... and if mine's is such an ass, then I shall have it!"
Yesterday's Answer: Alien3 (1992) with Sigourney Weaver and Charles S. Dutton.

I was tempted to say Princess Bride, but didn’t recall anything as racey as ‘ass’ from the movie.

My next thought was something from Mel Brooks. But the only Robin Hood type reference I could come up with was When Days Were Rotten (the guy playing Arvin Sloan was one of Robin’s merry men … I’m pretty sure) … that was a TV series.

Finally, I turned to another resource — as it happens I was wrong.

I wanted to post anyway — to expose my wrongness to the world.

It’s been a helluva fun week at Blogography! I’ve enjoyed your posts, your prize-packs the commentary from your adoring fans.

  3. Neil T. says:

Some time in the next 12 months I may be in Canada briefly (don’t quite know whereabouts) so I might be able to meet you then. Otherwise next time you’re in Blighty let me know and I’ll make an effort to bump into you somewhere 🙂 .

  4. Patrick says:

That monkey behind your back has a pretty sly look in his eyes…I’d watch out for him if I was you.

I was also way off the target on the movie quote.

  5. kazza says:

    Aww thanks dude, *hugs* 🙂

  6. MRKisThatKid says:

Did they just want to make sure you were real?

  7. Dave2 says:

I dunno Delmer, “Princess Bride” was an excellent film… but I do think that it could have benefitted from a little “ass.” That quote SHOULD have come from the movie!

I’m starting out slow Girl (OnAGlide). First I’ll have fans that adore me. Then I’ll have fans that worship me. And then I’ll have fans that will kill for me. After that, my bid for world domination can finally begin!! (well, right after I get a secret island from which to devise my master plans).

I really must get back to Jolly Old England one day soon, Neil… especially if they open the Hard Rocks in Liverpool and Newcastle Upon Tyne. 🙂

My monkey is quite sly… you are right Patrick, I should never be turning my back on him. But, then again, every evil genius simply must have an evil monkey henchman. I think it’s in the Evil Genius Rulebook somewhere.

No problem-o Kazza! See you when I get to Australia!!

Hmmm… it’s hard to say, MRKisThatKid. There have been people who think that I am fictional, so maybe that’s the answer? Or perhaps they just want to bask in my glorious presence and be blessed by my luminous being. Yeah, I think that must be it.

Me thinks he found the fifth he was wanting in a previous post.

  9. I think it’s that if you’re cool on the ‘Net, you must be cool in person.

At least, that’s why I would want to meet you if I were living in your relative vacinity. As it is, if you ever want to travel to hell (Washington D.C) let me know.

Also, I’ll have you know I’m now working on prizes for my second Bloggaversairy. Damn you and this infernal bar raising!! *shakes fist in mock anger*

  10. Art says:

    Golden Child.
Wish I could turn my back on my monkey.

  11. Art says:

Also the Monkey’s hand is out of full view and cartoon Dave has a rather startled look on his face. I know that you don’t dodge work, so maybe the shipping and driving story is a cover up for a sly 20% Monkey penetration? As my percentage is higher than yours, I don’t want the damn monkey any where near me, just in case.

  12. kazza says:

Dave: and when’s that going to be?? 🙂
/me taps her foot waiting.. 😉

  13. Dave2 says:

The only fifth I’ve taken recently was when I was at my trial last week.

And I feel obligated to dismiss the notion that I am cool. Either online or in real life (except when I am riding my motorcycle… at which time I am VERY cool).

My monkey is strictly hetero. He’s not grabbing my ass, he’s probably just playing with himself. Again. BAD MONKEY! BAD!!!

Oh… Kazza… didn’t I mention it? My flight leaves in 20 minutes. I’ll be knocking on your door in about 17 hours. =sigh= I wish I could escape to Australia soon… I’ve only been planning it for the past ten years. 🙁

  14. Michael Sean says:

The Golden Child was one kick ass flick.

  15. Dave2 says:

Indeed it does. Eddie Murphy may have been a little clumsy with some of his improvisational dialogue, but I’ve never understood why people dump on this film… I enjoyed it quite a lot and purchased it on DVD.
