Voted!

Dave!

Davevoted

If you live in the USA, don't forget to vote TODAY! With an election like this, every single vote matters. Don't count on others to speak for you. Even if it's raining. Even if the lines are long. Even if people on television are saying that your candidate already won. Even if polls are saying your vote doesn't matter. Even if you don't know where to vote and have to go to Google Maps to find out where your polling place is. VOTE! Get off your ass and VOTE!

And if you are a resident of California... VOTE NO ON PROP 8!

DAVETOON: Lil' Dave and Bad Monkey holding signs saying Vote NO on prop 8 in California!

And if you are a resident of Arkansas... VOTE NO ON PROP 1!

DAVETOON: Lil' Dave and Bad Monkey holding signs saying Vote NO on prop 1 in Arkansas!

I would if I could, and you can click the above links to learn why.

Then, after you're done voting, go wish Hilly-Sue a happy birthday!

  1. Sybil Law says:

You are a fine, upstanding American!

  2. Kim says:

I voted no on prop 8 and I told California we were so going to break up if prop 8 passed.

  3. Mooselet says:

I wish I lived in California so I could vote no on Prop 8.

  4. Aunt Robin says:

Thanks, Dave! I can’t wait to go vote later this afternoon. I’ve tomorrow off, so I will probably be up late tonight watching the election returns (with my fingers crossed for good luck).

  5. Dickie Maxx says:

Dave I am off to vote in a few hours. My ballot is already filled out. I just wanted to thank you again for being such a great supporter of No on 8 and No on 1. If we win today it is going to be because of awesome efforts by people like you. Thank you again.

  6. Hilly Sue says:

No on 8! No on 8! No on 8!

I voted early, just so I could spend my birthday here with you! Yay us! Thank you for the birthday wishes, Davey-Joe!

  7. Juli says:

We voted NO on Amendment #2 in Florida.

  8. Jeff says:

I’m hopeful. I’m hopeful that Obama will win today. I’m hopeful that he’ll lead us into a better future. Sure it will take a lot of work, but today can be the start of a better America.

I’m hopeful that Act 1 in Arkansas will fail. I live in Arkansas and one of my friends used to work for the Department of Children and Family Services. It’s a horribly flawed system, but it’s what we have to work with. Act 1 would only damage the system more. The only poll taken on the issue that I’ve found (dated 10/23) shows Act 1 being defeated 55% opposing it.

I’m hopeful that Proposition 8 will fail and discrimination won’t be written into the California Constitution. I’m hopeful that the nasty campaigning that the Prop 8 supporters have undertaken blows up in their faces.

I’m hopeful that Floridians will defeat Proposition 2, which would enshrine discrimination into Florida’s constitution.

I’m hopeful that Americans will repudiate the politics of hate and fear and that we can move forward and start putting our energy into things that are really important like ending the war in Iraq, finishing the job in Afghanistan, resolving the financial mess that we’ve found ourselves in, restoring our country’s standing in the world, bringing affordable health care to the millions of Americans in need, feeding the millions of Americans who go to bed hungry every night, bringing new and better jobs to America, and providing everyone in America with a quality education.

Thanks, Dave, for being an ally and Happy Birthday! to Hilly-Sue.

  9. Silvertongue says:

I voted this morning before work and the volunteers were saying that they’d never seen a turnout like this before – I was so happy! There were actually people in line to vote, which never happens in my tiny little district!

  10. ChillyWilly says:

I voted early on Thursday, but wanted to make sure I made my voice heard, even here in Utah.

    No on 8.

  11. whall says:

    Nobama 08.

Wait, isn’t that what you’re saying when you say no on prop 8?

  12. Finn says:

I voted! Floridians, vote NO on amendment 2! I did.

  13. A Lewis says:

Happy Election Day! It’s a great day to be alive.

  14. *pixie* says:

I voted first thing this morning. It’s a beautiful day and it only took a half an hour.

  15. lizriz says:

    Done and done! 🙂

  16. Done did voted, m’dear! I think you should make Lil’Dave voter buttons. 🙂 I would wear one!

PS Your killer clown costume? Fucking awesome.

  17. claire says:

I put on my Frank Lloyd Wright-esque shirt that’s red, white, and blue, and voted.

  18. And in Arizona, it’s prop 102. Dammit I wish I could vote. The more I read about those that have voted, the more disappointed I get because I can’t.

  19. Jonathan says:

Dave, you and every other heterosexual-identified male supporting gay marraige rank among the finest citizens (IMHO). 🙂

  20. jane says:

Hope I’m not too late to comment. I voted NO on 8, as did my boyfriend. My mom voted YES, but now says she wishes she would have voted no…bless her heart… the ads were deceptive & confusing. She’s 80 years old & I don’t think she got what she was really voting for.
Here is an odd thing though: I know of 4 homosexuals that voted YES on 8; they do not want gay marriage. My sister is 1 of them, I think her girlfriend voted NO. All of their reasons for voting YES were religious. I find that sadly disturbing.
