Finally made it to an Apple Store only to find out that it might be my power adapter that's the problem and not my PowerBook after all. This was a big relief, because the new MacBook model that I was going to buy wasn't in stock. So all I had to do was buy a new power adapter and I'd be golden. Sweet.
Except they didn't have any of the "older" power adapters in stock... they just carry the new "magnetic" version. This is pretty f#@%ing stupid. With a laptop, the only thing you need to keep it going is a power adapter. It only seems logical that such a critical element would be well-stocked to keep PowerBook users running in a time of crisis, but no.
So now I am back to square one, which sucks ass.
With no PowerBook to work with, I've scored tickets to the first ever Pet Shop Boys concert in Seattle tonight. Somehow, in their 21 years, they've missed playing here. Hopefully the wait will have been worth it...

It’s always the little things that’ll fuck you over. And now I have Pet Shop Boys songs in my head.
Time after time I am amazed how much tolerance Mac users have. 😉
What exactly did go correct last months with Apple for you?
I am sure they didn’t have it in stock because Mac has lots of different power units in his program and the one you need just ran out. Bummer.
Poor Lil’ Dave is gonna be all grown up by the time we see him again 🙁
ouch! that sucks about the power adapter. You would think they would still keep those in stock since not every single apple user hasn’t yet upgraded to the new intel units
Mooselet… I have about a half-dozen songs stuck in my head now! 🙂
Franky… What choice do I have? My power adapter is dead and the local Apple Store doesn’t have one and I’ll have to order it. If I had bought a Dell, I wouldn’t even have the option of visiting a local Dell Store because there aren’t any. Having dealt with Dell, HP, and other PC companies many times, I’ll take an Apple product any day of the week.
Jeff… He’s like Dennis the Menace… eternally young (much like myself).
Rob… Not only that, but the older adapters are probably more in demand since they are, in fact, older and wearing out. It makes no sense at all. 🙁
I too have a powerbook, and have been having a hell of a time trying to find compatible gadgets. I own an antique! When, really, I purchased this computer in February.
Quite improving dammit! Let me catch my breath!
About the power adapter, it’s only cuestion of time… or a good excuse for wait and buy the new mac that you want…
Even so Apple always kick-ass….
Also, and after all, go to the Pet Shop Boys concert it’s a good form to wait…
Mmmmmm Pet Shop Boys !!! Great !!!
Ok, your mission, and you will accept it, is to tell me how awesome it was to see The Pet Shop Boys live. Every time they are near me (Dallas or Tulsa) something comes up and I can’t go. I have to know that you enjoyed ‘Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money…)’ in my place.
It seems like every apple store is out of stock of the power adapters.
May I suggest a third party power adapter? Newertech, and better yet, macsales.com have them, and a bit cheaper too.
Or if you are still under the warrenty, try ordering a replacement part through the genius bar.
me again, and no i’m not a penis enlarger saleswoman… aww that’s crappy no power adaptor, it’s happened to me before and W#&T%#(^F! … you might want to check out asian markets in the net like singapore maybe, for sure there’s lots… also, think there’s only 5 of us here in Manila who’ve moved on to MacBooks and if you’re really really really that desperate i could check out the mac store here and ship it all the way from asia! ha!
PS. must say, i love those magnetic power things 😉
