Odd. I nearly forgot to blog today. So here I am in bed with midnight quickly approaching and nothing to write about. Unfortunately I was sketching all day for work, which isn't something conducive to blog fodder. I need to find a new career which involves explosives and super-models... now there's a blog entry!
The one ray of sunshine in my day was finding out that I don't have to appear for jury duty on Monday (but have to call back again on Tuesday). Yes, I was called to serve AGAIN. This pisses me off more and more each time, because I'm called in constantly, yet there are people I know who have only been called once or twice in their entire lifetime. Heck, I've been called FOUR TIMES in the six years I've had this blog... September 2003, February 2006, May 2008, and now in December 2009 (and at least three times before that). And each time I have to somehow find a way of clearing two weeks off my schedule, which is absurd given that I have a hard time scheduling more than a solid week of VACATION at a time. If I do end up being called in, it will take every bit of restraint I have not to stand up and scream "FUCK YOU, YOUR HONOR... WHERE'S MY JUSTICE?!??"
Except I think you can go to prison for that.
And in prison you don't have access to either explosives or super-models.

Seriously? I can’t believe you’re called for jury duty again. Maybe you need some fake, crazy tattoo on your face. Like one of those teardrops by your eye. That should get you out of jury duty, anyway.
My wife just got a jury summons this week, which is her second, I think. Oddly, I’ve never gotten one.
Can you blog from prison? At least then we could benefit.
I have never been called to jury duty, not even after I became a citizen. I’m waiting for the day.
Perhaps the state of Washington just recognizes your immense reserves of wisdom and your burning hatred of injustice and that is why they keep calling on you?
(Although really, with those characteristics you would serve the American people better as a costumed crime-fighter.)
I’ve been called for jury duty twice. Once was during a final and I filled out the paper to excuse myself and get called during the summer (or whatever other time it was). Yeah, they refused to accept that and I missed my final causing me to fail that class.
I don’t really know where else I was going with that. So there’s that.
Four times in six years? Uh, nuts. I’ve been called once and it sucked. A horrific murder trial that still gives me nightmares. I did feel good about doing my civic duty, but it was too much for me. At least I was only called once!
That’s what you get for living in a town of 10,000 people.
I’ve never been called for jury duty. But then again I live in Canada, where most prosecutable events get settled over a friendly hockey game on the lake or by buying the other party a large double-double when the lake is not frozen (June 17th to July 28th).
As much as I hesitate to say it, for fear of bringing a jinx on, I’ve never been called for jury duty. Four times in six years sounds excessive … maybe you’ve got some judges eager to boost their Dave Scores.
