Generally speaking, I don't think much about the things I write on my blog. Each day when I find a free moment, I sit down and type out whatever happens to be crossing my mind at the time. There's no real agenda or message I'm going for, it's just random crap that's mostly useless and occasionally entertaining. This is not to say that I don't have lucid moments... every once in a while I've actually got something to say... but nobody's going to confuse Blogography with anything that's to be taken seriously. I draw cartoons with monkeys for heaven's sake.
This is a system that serves me well, even if it does result in my having to deal with random hatemail and nasty comments every once in a while. If you put yourself out there on the internet long enough, the hate is inevitable, regardless of how ridiculous you are.
Knowing that doesn't make it any easier, however.
Today I deleted the entry I had written rather than invite the inevitable hatemail that would have come from it. I just don't need the drama right now.
So instead, here's a cartoon of a monkey to look at...
Hopefully tomorrow I'll stop thinking when I blog again. It's a lot more productive.
I love comments! However, all comments are moderated, and won't appear until approved. Are you an abusive troll with nothing to contribute? Don't bother. Selling something? Don't bother. Spam linking? Don't bother.
PLEASE NOTE: My comment-spam protection requires JavaScript... if you have it turned off or are using a mobile device without JavaScript, commenting won't work. Sorry.
Why censor yourself because of the few trolls out there? Isn’t that kind of giving them the power?
I understand, though, about not needing the drama. Some days, you just don’t have it in you to deal with crap from other people — no matter how ridiculous it is, what they have to say.
Just know that there’s a LOT of us that enjoy what you write about. The monkeys make me laugh… and I love your big heart. It doesn’t hurt that you know how to write, and write well, for that matter.
I hope everything is better tomorrow! 🙂
I’m really curious now. But I always like looking at your monkey… wait, that didn’t come out right. Or did it? 🙂
Bad Monkey is good to look at
BUT
thought provoking blog?
PRICELESS!
Thinking is underrated…
That’s a shame. But you could have just blamed it on the bad monkey.
Lately I haven’t been writing about a lot of stuff going on because of the fear of hate mail. It’s sad that I (and you) feel like I have to censor myself on my own blog. I have a huge folder of unpublished blog posts that I felt would get too much hate mail and just weren’t worth it. It sucks that people are so mean and judgemental, but I guess that is the way it is sometimes.
My daughter loves monkeys. She took a deck of your cards and hung them up all over her room. Her friends think they are the coolest thing ever, which makes me glad I bought about 12 packs of them before.
Sometimes, it’s better to walk away than speak your mind. And I love Bad Monkey anyway.
It sucks that you can’t just post whatever and not get the hate mail. I don’t understand the hate mail.
That is one cute monkey, though. 🙂
I end up censoring myself because people I know read my blog, and that’s kind of annoying too but I’m sure it’s not nearly as annoying as the hate mail! Luckily I haven’t experienced that yet. I really don’t understand the point of the hate mail anyway -why can’t people just respectfully disagree? If they really don’t like what someone has to say they don’t have to read!
i like monkeys. and i really like bad monkey.
but more importantly i would like what you had written, uncensored. fuck the mean people. delete. (i’ll monitor your comments for you if that makes it easier. hehe)
You know you can always say it over at my place. We eat trolls for breakfast – a reason I have had very very few.
Even the haters love monkeys.
You are a f*cking a**hole. I want the original post.
(See, you can’t win. You get hate mail / comments either way.)
I’m sorry you had to censor yourself. Would you like me to leave a nasty comment so you can feel somewhat normal? I can, if you really want me to. I’ll even include some curse words.
Because that? Is bloggy love. 🙂
Dangit anyways.
You’re damned if you do.
And damned if you don’t.
Of course when he’s bad, you can always say you’re taking the day off blogging to spank your monkey. ;D
I get not needing the drama, but it really sucks that you can’t post things without getting hate mail – I love the posts where you really get into things.
But…I love the monkey, too. 😉
That sucks when you can’t post your thoughts on your own blog. Damn hate mail.
I am so dealing with this very thing. I have been having to censor some of my comments because these people chose to air their ridiculous immaturity in MY comments. Unfortunately, it was not meant for my blog and never will be!
That said, dude you so rock. I love what you write and i feel sad that you felt the need to delete it. Whatever! It’s your blog! You do what YOU want!!!
Have a pleasant evening!!!
Dave:
Hate mail can be rough. No one wants to deal with some one so one sided or their foolish electronic blasting. And, with everyone one in the world feeling entitled to throw in their mindless comments on every subject under the sun the added noise can be overwhelming. But, no matter what an idiot like me leaves in your inbox please don’t feel the need to hold back. There are somethings worth writing about and if you feel your way of explaining them can open a doorway for discussion for those seeking answers, then do so. Sure not everyone is open and not everyone has the same way of discussing things but you know what kind of people they are.
The thing this world needs are more heros and it sometimes takes a good fight to see who is worth listening too. No one has all the answers and its easy to whip up something angry in a hurry just to relieve the days frustrations but don’t let misguided confusion surrender your voice.
I understand why you would want to delete an entry, but there are enough interested people that visit your blog that don’t send hate mail. I would hope the only fuckheads that do send hate mail are few and far between.
Cartoons of monkeys beats most blogs I read. Including my own. Keep up the good work. If it weren’t for the monkey ‘toons, there’d be nothing worth looking at on the ‘net.
See, someone can say something nice. Even about the monkey.
