There are movies that entertain, and then there are movies which actually have something to say.
Little Miss Sunshine actually has something to say.
On the surface, it's just a funny movie about a family with major issues that's fun to watch. But when you dig a little deeper, it's a brilliant commentary on just how messed up life is and all the crazy crap we have to put up with in order to make our way through it. By the time they finally reach the Little Miss Sunshine Pageant, the absurdity of it all is in vivid relief.
Hands-down the best movie I've seen this year...
Basking in sunshine has never felt so good.

Buddha Dave makes me feel so enlightened!
i very much want to see this movie.
Nekkid Dave needs some sunscreen, I think. Looks like you’re starting to burn.
lol Adena!
Here I thought it was the Flag of Davetopia!
(he’s gonna think we missed his entire blog this time…)
I agree! 🙂 Awesome film.
Yea! I’m glad that you liked it. I’ve seen it twice now – I had to take the wife to see it this week – and it holds up and might have been even more enjoyable the second time around.
to expose yourself to pleasant warmth is a good thing.

I am not sure about a cross-country trip with a girl who can scream.
Btw, Steve Carell looks like you with beard.
Oh Little Miss Sunshine… Very good review in France because it has been selected to be shown at the next Deauville American Film Festival.
Alas, I can’t see it before September 6, 2006. 🙁
As soon as I saw Toni Colette in the cast it was on my list. I’m seeing it this week.
The picture made me think of a song but instead of the real words I keep hearing the words “Dave is floating on Sunshine Ya Ya”
I guess your mind control is working 🙂
Okay, taking yours and Brandon’s reviews into consideration, I’m definitely seeing this one.
Better than Clerks, V, and Superman? C’mon.
Dave–Hooray for your good words on this movie!
My wife and I have been waiting for this one since we saw it’s trailer on the L.A. Film Festival site. It finally made it to town and we too saw it this weekend.
As you said, it was truly wonderful. A movie that makes you laugh, cry and think! How rare. I hope every one gets a chance to see it.
Another movie I am looking forward to is “Chalk”. It is supposed to be out at the end of the year.

I was just mentioning to Firda that I wanted to see this movie. I know so little about it but I’ve heard good things. Maybe sometime this week.
I definitely want to see Little Miss Sunshine. Steve Carell is awesome. So far, I’ve loved everything he’s done, so I trust him.
are your titties really perfectly round as shown?
I loved this movie too! I can tell a good film when I like it even more as time goes on simply because I have spent time thinking about it. A good movie lingers. A bad one you forget about having seen when the credits start to roll.
You are the umpety-teenth person who I respect who has commanded me to see this movie, so sure are they of my enjoyment of it, but THIS seals it. Now to just wait for it to get to the hinterlands…
