As a part of my plan to slip into a television coma yesterday, I've started watching the first season of Alias again. And oh how far this once mighty show has fallen.
There's only one word to describe what it once was: stunning.
Compare anything from those first magical episodes to the complete shit we've got now in the third and fourth season, and the difference is staggering. It's almost like watching two completely different shows. And all of that makes me wonder... how could an amazing program that once had edge-of your seat espionage and was one of the best things on TV be allowed to degenerate into a weak X-Files parody with vampires, zombies and other such bullshit? They shouldn't even be allowed to call it Alias anymore, because it just isn't. I'm totally embarrassed for everybody involved.
Somebody needs to bitch-slap J.J. Abrams and then kick some sense into him. Alias has pretty much been flushed down the toilet... and his other creation, Lost is well on its way. Does he even care? Or is he too busy rolling around naked in huge wads of cash to give a crap?

In the first episode of Alias, as I recall, Sid gets in a vehicle parked in a garage (a pickup?). As I was watching this scene my then-7-year old came out of the bathtub and asked what I was watching.
As I said, “I think it’s Alias,” one or two guys opened up on Sidney with machine pistols.
My son looked at me and said, “No. I think it’s Judging Amy.”
I asked if there was a lot of automatic weapons fire in Judging Amy. He assured me there was.
Alias will have to get a lot worse before I quit watching. But I keep hoping it will get better.
As you may know already, I’m done with it. Entirely. I stopped watching and haven’t even been tempted to sneak a peek at it since. Thinking bck, the first season had to rock. I have a hard time even remembering anything about the SD-6 days. How cool was that? As for the crap they’re churning out now, who needs it? I’ve even lost interest in anything starring Jennifer Garner. Oh well.
I stopped watching sometime early in season three (and in between in season 2). Perhaps the problem is that all the remotely interesting issues have been dealt with already and nothing new can happen… all that remains to do is hope that she looks hot in an episode.
They should’ve just stopped after the first season.
Same goes for 24, of course.
Which season has the episode in which JG is on a private jet in some sort of black (or red) nighty? She models it for some slob and he asks her to put on the red (or black) one.
She does, then at some point kicks the guy’s butt. At the end of the butt kicking she asks, “What was wrong with the one?”
If they’d turn Alias into something like the late 60’s Mission Impossible, it would be a step up.
Again, it will have to get a lot worse before I quit watching.
I think it will get better. It almost has to.
