Given that I don't really blog about anything of actual substance in my life, all the interesting stuff that happened today can't be written about here. Suffice to say that in one day, everything I thought that was going to happen in my life for the next two months has been drastically altered. I'm still sorting through the pieces to determine if this is a good thing or a bad thing, because right now I just don't know. That's the way it goes.
At least that's what I keep telling myself.
Trying my best to roll with the punches, I cleared my evening so that I could attempt to put everything back together again. It was not a happy time, and it was most certainly not easy. And I think a few of the pieces fell in-between the couch cushions, because I can't see the big picture yet.
Life should be more like a Rubik's Cube than a jigsaw puzzle, because then you couldn't misplace any of the pieces...
And, more importantly, there's a formula that tells you how to solve it.
Oh well. I've done the best I can.
Though it's entirely possible that everything will change again tomorrow.
Or the next day.

Very cryptic…
But, I hope things work out for the best.
Next up for the Artificial Duck store, custom-made Rubik’s cubes!
ahhh. i hate it when things do not bend to your will as you expect them to. and really, there’s only one remedy: hookers and booze. well, booze anyway. you let me know when it it’s time to max out my mastercard and we will set everything back in order with the universe.
Are you saying that the ghost of Salvador Dali took over your life and altered it to fit his surreal needs?
My experience has been it always ends up being better in the long run – hope yours is the same.
Dig the Lil’ Dave Cube!
Somewhere I have a teeny little keychain Rubik’s Cube from back in the day when they were the hottest thing around. It works and I actually managed to solve it way back then. You can always rip it apart and put it back together the right way if you get too frustrated.
Wish life were like that more often! Heh – maybe it is and I’ve just never tried it that way. π
P.S. Thanks for the Ducky Buttons! Very cool as always! π
Yes, but just imagine how boring our lives would be if they came pre-assembled, rarely deviating from the plan. It’s only when we’re challenged that we discover our inner strength to cope.
You’ll find yours. Hang in there.
Sorry to hear, man. Let me know if I can help.
Hang in there. You’re karmariffic, so things will come up Dave in no time.
Are you going to be a contestant on a reality show that takes it’s folks 2 months to figure out how many bluetooth-wearing crack-whore bad-parenting women you can seduce, and then take care of their kids? It’ll be called The Sadistic Pick Up Artist Nanny 911.
Yes, you don’t lose any of the pieces with a Rubik’s cube, but even with the solution it’s still really hard to get all the pieces to go exactly where you want them :/ Unless you are like the kids I went to high school with – they used to peel off the stickers and move those to solve the puzzle π
I hope everything falls into place for you.
Try to schedule something fun in those next two months!
I get so caught up in planning for tradeshows and events that are six months to a year away, sometimes I forget what today’s date is.
Life is more like one of those Chinese finger pull tubes. The harder you try to pull with your index fingers the tighter it becomes … and you can’t get out of it.
I hope things turn around for you Dave. You know we all wish you the best.
I wish I knew what to say to… I wish I could make it all better… Wait? There’s a formula to solve the Cube?! Almost tempting to go and buy a new one just to try it. Almost.
I just cannot fathom this whole “I don’t blog about my life” phenom. I mean… who can you trust with the intimate details of your life, if not the Internet??
that really blows. sigh. i’m sorry that happened. i hope things work themselves out (and maybe are better than you can imagine).
Cool graphic!
Posts like this drive me nuts for two reasons:
1) I worry, and hope you are ok
2) I find myself doing more and more of them on my own blog (because the longer I blog the less personal stuff I find I am able to blog about and the self censoring gets worse and HARDER) and so when I see them on other’s blogs, I know it’s important stuff you are worrying about, and all you wanna do is talk about it but YOU CAN’T. Because you self censor!
ARG.
I hope everything turns out well for you
Ugh. So sorry to hear that! I hope it turns out for the better. The great thing about Rubik’s cubes is that if you got too frustrated, you could just snap all the pieces off and snap them back together the right way.
I hope that ‘interesting’ ends up being more good than bad. Like someone else said, you do have karma on your side!
Really sorry when bad things happen to good people, especially friends. But they do. It takes a BIG man to handle them. I’ve heard that you are qualified.
Now you got me all curious to know what happened. Go on tell us! You can ignore any meanies sur.
Adena… Oh, they probably will… this is ME we’re talking about here! π
James… Nope… but you are close. Kind of. π
Brandon… I need hookers who are good at making travel arrangements and re-booking airlines and hotels. No need for your MasterCard, however, I’ll just write it all off as a business expense.
GΓΆran… I wish, as that would be an actual improvement.
Baak… My keychain Rubik’s Cube broke a while back. I was much saddened, even though I never solved it and never actually used it as a keychain. π
Robin… You are probably right. But I haven’t totally written-off Brandon’s suggestion of using booze and hookers to deal with my problems!
Kapgar… One Million Dollars would be great! In fact, that would solve all my problems! Thanks, buddy!
Avitable… Either that or I need to reverse-psychologize karma and go kick a puppy or something.
Wayne… Really? How much money do these people get? Because, where crack whores are involved, I’m guessing it all comes down to the money. Or crack.
Jill… I used to cheat like that too, but after a while the stickers lose their stickum and everybody knows you’re cheating. This is problematic, because I have a genius reputation to protect! π
Robin… And that’s where I’m at too. If you were to ask me what I’m doing in December and January, I could tell you exactly what’s going on. It’s just “the now” that’s giving me fits.
Bogup… Dude, I am NOT going to pull your finger!
Kilax… Thanks! Once Brandon’s hookers and booze gets here, I’ll be in great shape! Well, not really, but at least I won’t mind being in bad shape so much!
Bec… Yes, but it’s like a formula that’s totally hard to figure out!
Miss Britt… My dog. Oh, wait a second… I don’t have a dog! I suppose you’re right… if you can’t trust the internet, who can you trust? Just ignore those naked pictures of me out there… I was young and needed the money. π
Sizzle… Well, the Seattle Blogger Meet-up at the end of the month will help!
Jeff… Thanks! I traced it from a graphic I found on Google! Isn’t Google the greatest?
Karla… 1) Don’t worry, I am okay. 2) I wish I were brave enough to totally bare my soul on the internet, but it’s never going to happen. Everybody will just have to wait for the book! π
Amanda… Me too! I’m such a great guy, and I totally deserve it! π
Jenny… Except I am famous for losing the pieces! If Rubik’s Cube gets taken apart, I guarantee I’d lose one of those little cube-like things. It’s a curse… even with Lego! I’m terrible at managing the small stuff. π
Hilly… If not, I’m going to Disneyland! Again! Are you up for it? Have the blisters healed yet? π
Lewis… Yes, those naked photos of me out there on the internet do not lie. But, again, I was young and needed the money.
Audrey… Ummm… yeah… but no. I don’t blog about my personal life. But I do so love being a tease! Go me! π
The Hardrock Cafe is going bankrupt, isn’t it. Dammit, I knew they shouldn’t have expanded so far into Antartica. Well shitballs, now I have to change the “r” to a “c” on all my shirts just so people will still respect me when I wear them.
On the off chance that I have mis-diagnosed the reason for your post, I’ll buy you a drink next time we run into one another.
I hope all is OK, and you are just being cryptic.
Such is the life of an international man of mystery. I’m with Avitable on this one.
Guess you will be needing those travel clothes sooner than you thought…let me know if you need a driver, I could use some time off :o)
Hope everything’s ok and takes a turn for the better.
(And this might not be the time to mention it, but the Lil’ Dave’s Cube graphic is really cool!)
I don’t know whatever is going on.. but I hope it turns to a good thing.. =)
If life were more like a Rubik’s Cube does that mean I could take off the colourful stickers and place them all on the proper sides (like I did when I was a kid)? Cause if so, full speed ahead on making some sort invention to make life just as easy!
The next day always brings something new. You’ll come out ahead, Dave. I just have a feeling.
Yeah, look for that check in the mail, ‘kay?
Holy crap, kids can do the Rubik’s Cube in under 13 seconds?!? And the record is 9.86 seconds!!
