Day Ten: Rome

Posted on Monday, September 13th, 2010

Dave!Blah blah blah... Vatican City... Blah blah blah... St. Peter's Basilica... Blah blah blah... The Colosseum... Blah blah blah... The Pantheon... Blah blah blah... Trevi Fountain... Blah blah blah...

FETTUCINI ALFREDO!

As I've mentioned more than a few times before, my favorite restaurant on earth is Ristorante Alfredo alla Scrofa in Rome. So when the ship docked at Civitavecchia, I jumped at the chance to take a bus into the city so I could have my favorite meal...

Fettucini Alfredo

It was, as expected, beyond delicious.

Other than that, I just wandered around The Eternal City... killing time until my bus returned to port...

Rome is very beautiful and exciting... but it's the Fettucini Alfredo that makes me want to come back.

When did they build a Parthenon in Rome?

    😉

  2. Poppy says:

I had the best pasta of my life made for me tableside at a restaurant in Quebec City. I can only imagine how much better from that your pasta was… I need to get my passport updated.

  3. SFChick74 says:

Those photos are gorgeous! I totally want to go to Italy.

  4. Lisa says:

Rome is so beautiful! I’m a little envious you got to go inside the coliseum. When we were there they were doing restoration work so we couldn’t go in. I need to get back there someday!

    • Dave2 says:

Well that sucks! I’ve been to Rome four times now and was able to get in all three times I decided to visit. Since they’re working on it all the time, it’s surprising they would need to close it? It’s a major tourist attraction and must generate a ton of money.

    Those photos are stunning.

But even more stunning is your meal. I’ve commented many times on many of your blog posts about my love of Alfredos in NYC. But to be there at the original and have their FETTUCINI ALFREDO makes this person very jealous.

Wishing I could have gone to the Orlando location at Epcot before they closed down in 2007.

    • Dave2 says:

I was VERY upset when Alfredo’s pulled out of Epcot. It was a major drawing point to me for the park. I keep hoping that they franchise to New York or L.A. or somewhere… but perhaps it’s best they stay in Rome so I don’t have a heart attack from eating there too often!

  6. whitenoise says:

Wow. Just wow. And I ain’t talking about the mac ‘n’ cheese…

    • Dave2 says:

Heh. If I ever ordered anything BUT the Fettucini Alfredo when visiting Alfredo’s, I’d have to smack myself. If I ordered Mac-N-Cheese, I’d have to shoot myself! 🙂

  7. The Momshell says:

It’s like an overload of GORGEOUS!

  8. Mr.End says:

I have heard of FETTUCINI ALFREDO from my friend before, and I have been to Rome 2 time. But I have not been to the FETTUCINI ALFREDO before, until I decide to go to rome again after I read your diary.
