Non-Believer

Posted on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Dave!"Tonight's the night!"

"Excuse me?"

"Tonight's the night! LOST is finally on again!"

"Oh. Sorry, I don't watch that show."

"WHAT?!?? ARE YOU CRAZY? THAT SHOW IS AWESOME! YOU GOTTA WATCH LOST!! These people are trapped on this island where weird stuff happens, but then they got OFF the island and then went BACK to the island but the island is in the PAST and tonight we find out if the BOMB can stop the ISLAND from --- hey... HEY! What are you... AAAAHHHHHH!"

DAVETOON: News Headline... A local man was arrested for severely beating a man at the mini-mart...

Look, I am happy that everybody loves LOST, honestly, I am. I know what it's like to have a passion for a television show and have it consume your life (though any show I love that much usually ends up getting cancelled). But, seriously, it's okay that some people don't like the show and don't really give a crap what happens. It's not necessary to try and convert the non-believers.

We are perfectly happy just as we are, thanks.

  1. DutchBitch says:

I “Lost” the “plot” after watching just a few episodes and never tried to get back on track with the series… I just can’t keep track of the whole story and stuff… I’m stupid like that, I guess, LOL

  2. Karen says:

I watch Lost… but sort of against my will. My husband likes it, and it’s true that I DO want to find out what happens. But if I never watched it again I wouldn’t mind… and might almost be happy about it.

Truth is, it’s an intriguing story, but all that intrigue comes from playing tricks on the viewer, not from truly clever story telling. It’s not all that well written.

I’ve never gotten all the Lost mania, either.

  3. I have never watched “Lost”.

    Nope. Never seen 1 episode.

I’d list that on a resume if I could. I have better stuff to DVR.

  4. Hilly Sue says:

I’m totally into LOST but it’s not like I balk at the idea of someone else *not* liking it. To each her own, or his own, or whatever. Yanno?

  5. whitenoise says:

My wife has been following this show for years so I watched about a half hour of it last night. At 11 as I turned off the set, all I could think was WTF was that? Give me the National Geographic channel any day…

  6. RW says:

    Afuckinmentothat!

  7. In general I really dislike when people tell me I “have to” like something. Everyone is different, that’s what makes the world what it is. If everyone liked/didn’t like the same thing it would sure be pretty boring! I kind of laugh when people are so pushy about what they like/don’t like. Obviously it is more bothersome when it is things that matter and not just a tv show that I am “supposed to” like or be against.

And, like you, normally when I really really love a show it gets cancelled. My husband says he doesn’t like when I love a show he likes because then he knows it is doomed.

  8. bo says:

    SPOILER ALERT!!! GOSH!

  9. Lexi says:

AMEN! I’ve never seen a single episode (the fact that it’s in HD and cuts off the edges on my old-assed TV and looks all zoomed-in and jacked up prevents me from even trying now), and yet? My life still feels complete.

  10. B.E. Earl says:

Hey, if I can’t really convince the woman I love and live with to watch it (and I really haven’t tried as I know she would hate it), why would I even bother trying to convince anyone else. It’s been on for 6 years now. If ya aren’t into it yet, chances are ya aren’t gonna be into it.

  11. Harold O"Bryan says:

I’m just “LOST” for words that you don’t like the TV show Lost. I do have the first 5 seasons on DVD’s that you’re welcome to borrow ! 🙂

  12. Sybil Law says:

I could care less about Lost.
    Afriggingmen!

  13. karla says:

I ‘lost’ the plot after the first season.
    Then I stopped caring.
I don’t like TV mind fucks. AT least, obtuse ones.

  14. Kristy says:

    Dave,
It’s off topic, but, if you haven’t met ukulele virtuoso and Seattle blogger Howlin Hobbit, you must. I direct your attention to his song, “Naughty Monkey.”

  15. Ren says:

    You only think you’re happy.

    Perception is everything.

    Perfection is unattainable.

  16. muskrat says:

ha! deb likes it…i don’t have time for TV outside of college football on saturdays. if i had time for TV on weeknights, i’d blog more!

i did like “the wonder years” from ’88 to ’93. and then i watched “friends” in undergrad. that was the last show i watched.

  17. robin says:

And I thought I was only one that had never seen Lost. I feel so much better now.

  18. hdw says:

We watched the first year – sort of – and then I got bored. And I had that same sort of aforementioned conversation yesterday at my son’s school. So far, my life is spinning along just fine without Lost in it, so … I’m good.

  19. mrs. hall says:

yeahh… just you wait… someday you’ll order a few episodes off of netxflix or see one at someone’s house than BAM!! you’ll be talking all losties versus others and Kate and SAWYER AND LOCKE!!!

and oh yes, this show’ll git ya!

    just you wait!! 😉

  20. Jeff says:

My sister and her husband work on the Lost crew. She never recommended the show to me, so I haven’t seen it. That’s gotta tell you something.

  21. Mik says:

I’ve never watched Lost or Heroes for that matter, neither appealed to me.

But you havta watch White Collar 🙂

  22. Sarah says:

I stopped watching Lost after the pilot. Like Heroes that show just annoys the crap out of me.
