Up!

Posted on Monday, December 15th, 2008

Dave!I must be leaving early Wednesday morning on a work trip (weather permitting), and have been working my arse off trying to get caught up before I go. Unfortunately, this leave little time for important stuff like blogging.

But that's okay, because the new Disney-Pixar film has a trailer out, and it's better than anything I could ever come up with anyway. I cannot wait to see this film.

May 29th, everybody get ready to go Up!

Now, I sincerely doubt that Up will take the place of Monsters, Inc. as my favorite Pixar film... but it may very well knock The Incredibles out of the #2 spot on my countdown list...

  1. Monsters, Inc.
  2. The Incredibles
  3. WALL-E
  4. Toy Story 2
  5. Finding Nemo
  6. Toy Story
  7. Ratatouille
  8. Cars
  9. A Bug's Life

The trailer for Up can be found at the official website at Disney.

The trailer looks like it will be a cute movie. It is interesting to see your list of pixar movies in order of your favorite. We agree on #1 but from there our lists are vastly different. I think that is what is great about their movies. Everyone seems to like them but for different reasons.

I do think I am going to have to watch Wall-E again. Everyone who I know who saw it loved it. Myself I thought it was cute but that was about it. Clearly I missed something that everyone else saw.

  2. You can call me, 'Sir' says:

That looks bueno, indeed. Big fan of the Pixar.

  3. Jen says:

The old guy from Up sort of looks like what I think Little Dave might look like when he’s old. And the dimensional.

  4. Jeff says:

I saw that trailer a couple of months ago and have been excited ever since. If you have a faster broadband connection, watch it in the larger format- it’s well worth the download time. Pixar’s attention to detail is amazing!

  5. Lexxie says:

    I didn’t like the Incredibles 🙁
And I still haven’t seen Wall-E. Was it really that good? I’d probably have Nemo as my number 2, and keep Monsters as my numero uno.

  6. Janelle says:

Ok, I’m over here so that I too can start dreaming of you 🙂

And to say that Monsters Inc is also my favorite Pixar film! I love that movie. Next on my list would be Toy Story. Wait, no Cars! Cars is my favorite Pixar film!!

Oh heck, it would easier naming all the presidents, in order, than naming my favorite Pixar movie.

  7. Jen says:

    Err, I meant THREE dimensional.

  8. Wait, what? There’s a new Disney/Pixar movie? Proving once again that I must live in a cave. I’ve seen all the Pixar movies except for WALL-E and my faves are The Incredibles and Finding Nemo. I think. Maybe Ratatouille. Or Toy Story. Bugger.

  9. Naomi says:

Oh my god! That’s exactly what I pictured when I ranted about the whole “holding down the fort” comment a while back… Totally going to be my new desktop background…

  10. Mad William says:

    Interesting list. I haven’t seen Wall-E yet.
Mr. Man and I watch “The Incredibles” almost every night. I would have a tough time ranking them.

I saw the trailer for “UP” when we saw “Bolt” in 3-D (Awesone 3-D BTW) can’t wait to see it.

There should be more work from Pixar. Like “The Incredibles 2” for example.

  11. Nicole says:

Nice to hear I’m not the only one who thinks Monsters Inc. is the # 1 Pixar film. But I have to say, I think Ratatouille is dead last in my book. I lost all interest in the movie halfway through.

  12. kapgar says:

I really thought Ratatouille was higher on your list. Isn’t that the movie that sold you on a Blu-Ray player.

  13. Dave2 says:

There are no “bad” Pixar movies. I loved Ratatoullie… just not as much as the others on the list! 🙂

  14. Avitable says:

Isn’t that the same trailer that’s been around for about a month? The movie looks great, though!

I’d rate Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Finding Nemo well above the rest of their films. Monsters was just kind of boring to me, and the Incredibles failed on almost all levels. But I blame Brad Bird for that – I think he’s highly overrated and not at all skilled.

  15. Dave2 says:

Wasn’t that the “teaser” trailer? I don’t remember seeing the kid in the earlier one I saw.

I find it interesting that you feel that The Incredibles “failed on almost all levels.” Maybe it failed for you, but it has a 97% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and I have long felt that it is one of the best super-hero films ever to hit the screen (what The Fantastic Four should have been!). As for Brad Bird, I think he is astoundingly talented, having created two of my favorite animated films: The Incredibles and The Iron Giant.

It’s odd… usually we are so close on the movies we like, but I guess it doesn’t translate to animated films!

  16. Avitable says:

Yeah, very few people agree with me on Incredibles. I think it looked pretty, but was drab, boring, depressing, and poorly plotted. The writing and jokes were weak (the fashion designer character was absolutely horrid), and then it feels like they remembered that this was supposed to be about superheroes in the end, so they cram in a cool action scene.

Ugh. I’d probably hate Iron Giant, too.

  17. Sorata says:

I’m glad someone put Cars as low on the list as me, but what’s up with Finding Nemo! Dave, you think you can do all these things but you just can’t, Nemo! *storm out the room and chasing after turtles*

  18. Kailey says:

Another Pixar Movie so soon?! Yay! I have a hard time putting the Pixar movies in any sort of favorites order. The only one I didn’t care for was Cars.
