Planning

Posted on Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Dave!Today Vahid and I met up with Jenny and Brandon for a TequilaCon 2009 planning meeting. Which started out on Lake Michigan because Jenny took us on an architecture cruise around Chicago!

As one of the most architecturally diverse and beautiful cities in the USA, it was quite a treat...

Chicago from Lake Michigan

Chicago from The River.

From there, it was time for delicious hot dogs, Chicago style! We ate at America's Dog, because they had a veggie option...

Dueling Veggie Chicago Hot Dogs!

After that, it was time for drinks at the top of The Hancock Building...

After making custom T-shirts at the T-Shirt Deli, it was time to get down to business. Here is Jenny starting the official TequilaCon 2009 White Board...

And here is Brandon (who is apparently wearing Bristol Palin's T-shirt) photographing Round Two of the selection results for host city...

And here is Vahid taking a Super Pac-Man break during the grueling three hour discussion...

Unfortunately, Sometimes Rabbit showed up to have a drink and scare the hell out of me...

Last on the agenda was dinner up in Andersonville, where we were lucky enough to see PUPPET BIKE!! It's a tiny puppet theater... ON A BIKE! Here's a dog and a cat getting ready to dance...

PuppetBike makes Jenny happy...

Happy Jenny and PuppetBike

And Chicago makes me happy.

Sometimes Rabbit is the most awesome thing that has ever happened to me that I cannot in fact remember. That includes hookers.

  2. Iron Fist says:

The only thing I love more than Puppet Bike is that picture of Jenny with Puppet Bike. I need to have that picture on my desk as my perpetual ray of sunshine.

I do not love Sometimes Rabbit quite as much, although I respect Rabbit’s taste in liquor. And T-shirts.

  3. ChillyWilly says:

The rabbit head is very David Lynchian.

    Super Pac-Man rules!

TQ2009 Vegas??? I know you are not the man, but I have to post it here for others to see if it’s one of the final 3 city choices.

  4. carlos m. hernandez says:

Okay, you’re going to have to rock me to sleep now. The picture of that creepy severed rabbit head on the table is going to haunt me big time. *Ugh*

  5. jenny says:

I didn’t think anyone could capture the sheer joy that explodes out of me when I see puppet bike, but you’ve totally succeeded!

  6. Gina says:

    The veggie dog looks yummy!

Chicago makes me happy too. Even in the frigid cold of winter. That says a lot. I hope to make it there again for a weekend this Spring. Any chances of a “Dave-cago” this Spring or Summer (2009)? 🙂

  7. Ooh, I took that architectural boat tour – it was phenomenal!!
    xo

  8. And all this time I’ve been riding my bicycle without a puppet show attached. What was I thinking? Man, I am a selfish twat!

  9. Matt says:

Awww, I miss Chicago (my hometown)! Thanks for the pics. IMHO, the top of the Hancock is WAY better than the Sears Tower.

  10. diane says:

Ohhhhhh, I love the Signature Lounge at the top of the Hancock Tower! I’m long overdue for a get together there. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂

  11. I have enough SkyMiles to attend a TequilaCon in Europe. First Class. Hell yeah. So am I coming to next year’s? Only the bubonic plague could stop me. Can’t wait!

  12. nicole McDowell says:

I pass through chicago about 3 times a year and have yet to stop and enjoy the city I think i just might this time!!
