Bun

Posted on Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Dave!Oops. I made an entry yesterday but forgot to set it to "publish" while I was trying to fix stuff on my blog. Better late than never, I suppose.

The thing about messing around with your blog template is that it's a never-ending battle. There's always One More Thing that you want to fix or change, and you can go positively insane trying to get it all figured out. I've been working on an iPhone template off-and-on for weeks and don't feel any closer to finishing it than when I started. It doesn't help that Movable Type has crappy documentation for the complicated new template structure introduced in version 4. Oh well. It's just a matter of finding spare time to sit down and rip through the learning curve via the infamous "trial-and-error" method.

Alas, spare time is always in short supply, so everything sits unfinished.

Though I did change my header graphic while on a long, boring phone call the other day, so I guess that's something.

Or nothing, depending on how you look at it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I can't blog anymore because Mr. Bun and I have real work to do...

Davebunny
Say goodbye to Mr. Bun! He's off to Iraq next week!

Except when I say "real work" what I actually mean is "go home and read the pile of comic books that arrived in the mail yesterday."

I just hope Mr. Bun doesn't drop his little poop pellets on my Batman books like last time.

UPDATE: My blog is getting hammered by people refreshing to see all the header graphics, so I've made it easier for those wanting to see all fifty headers to see them by following this link.

    Which Batman books?

  2. Hilly Sue says:

That picture = adorable. So fucking cute.

I like the changes you made to your blog…we must all have the bug lately or something!

  3. Annette says:

Guilty … of refreshing my screen a few too many times so I could view your new header and cartoons. Pretty nifty! I especially like the Egyptian and canoe ones. I must have missed something (easy for me to do)… why are you in a canoe with ice cream cones? It looks like you’ve been camping for a week!

  4. Kyra says:

I have a fluffy duck watching over me, actually Maybe the duck and the bunny should get together for a play-date?

  5. Ummmmm. O-kay? Is Mr. Bunn a new part of the Dave-n-Bad-Monkey family? Or is he headed off in an AnySoldier.com care package?

  6. Jeff says:

Cool graphic… literally. Looks like the windows in my house these days.

  7. claire says:

There are still a couple of things I’d like to tweak in my sidebar that I’ve yet to figure out. In old Blogger, I could’ve done it pretty easily, but then new Blogger has things I like that I couldn’t do before. Trade-offs, sigh. Or sometimes growling.

Are all the little flags on the map behind you places you’ve been?

  8. Dave2 says:

Avitable: Looks like “Batman & Robin,” “Batman Confidential,” and “The Batman Strikes.” I’m a Bat-Fan.

Hilly-Sue: What can I say? I’m a fucking cute guy! A fucking cute guy with delusions of grandeur and a hyper-inflated ego!

Annette: You’re not alone… looks like a LOT of people are going that just now. I thought it would be fun for a surprise, but if it will make it easier, I’ve put them all on one page here.

Kyra: I think Mr. Bun is psychotic, so a play-date might be dangerous for Fluffy Duck. 🙂

Librarian: You got it exactly right… Mr. Bun is going in a care package so a soldier can have a friend, or make a new friend with a child who needs somebunny special.

Jeff: Might be time to pull out that Windex!

Claire: Yep, that map is an off-line version of my Online Travel Map!

  9. bogup says:

Cool new headers, Dave2. I like all of ’em!
I don’t suppose you will tell us who you were talking with on that “boring” phone call…

  10. Tracy Lynn says:

Some of those headers make me ridiculously happy. I probably need to get a life.

  11. adena says:

    OMG….LOVE the new pics!!

  12. shari says:

Why are the avatars blocking the first bit of comments? I KNEW IT! The avatars are taking over. Thank god Super Li’l Dave is here.

  13. Robin says:

Love the new headers! All my favorite DaveToons!

  14. Beth says:

such a thoughtful citizen you are….nice hat!

  15. suze says:

I love the new headers 🙂 Awesome!

  16. Tracy says:

Ack…must look away from the cuteness! I hope Mr. Bun has safe travels overseas.

And I must admit…I did a lot of refreshing yesterday – sorry about that! I didn’t realize there were FIFTY different headers, though…whoa. I think I’ll save some of them as a surprise.

  17. Chag says:

The new headers look great! My fave is Pimp Dave.

  18. Avitable says:

Wow – you did 50 headers? Crazy bastard.

Have you been reading Grant Morrison’s Batman? Or Paul Dini’s Detective Comics? They’ve both been good.

  19. Lisa says:

I confess…I was one of the dumbasses who kept refreshing the page to see the new headers. Can you blame me? They are awesome. I have no creativity, well I do but I can’t channel it from my head and into great graphics.

I do, however, have your iPhone wallpapers and have assigned some of my very dear friends to some of those pics so that when they call…a pic shoes. My husband got “A Little Geeky”.

Is that a monkey hanging on the map?

  20. ETinNY says:

I loved the Pat Robertson one. I think you could probably come up with a really good Hello Kitty one, too. If its good enough then, you might even be able to set ol’ Pat on a Hello Kitty version of his Tinky Winky tirade. That’d be really cool!

  21. Troy says:

The new headers are great – especially the one with Bad Monkey and G.I.R.

I can’t just hear G.I.R. now “I saw a monkey and he was going like this..”

  22. Iraq?? Ok, I’m totally jealous.

  23. Are you going to put out the “subscribe to comments” thing I begged for?

  24. the patient says:

Must have been one long-assed boring phone call.

  25. Dave2 says:

Let’s give this a try. I found a plug-in for Movable Type which has a “subscribe to comments feature” so let’s test it… shall we?

  26. Mr. Tester says:

    Test One!

  27. Mr. Commenter says:

    Will This show up??

  28. Dave2 says:

    Oooh… unsubscribe link not working…

  29. diane says:

Thanks for the link to all the headers! When I saw the changes, I didn’t realize it would refresh a different header each time, and I was a little disappointed in the new static header. But I was totally wrong! The new header is better than ever!! Yay! 🙂

  30. Stacey says:

The new header is very cool. I could never do anything as complicated as graphics on my site. It would forever be under construction and nothing would get written. I definitely need to stick to the motto Keep It Simple, Stupid!

That won’t stop me from admiring your awesomeness, however.

  31. The new headers get a big thumbs up from me sir. Nice work.

  32. Timmy Taylor says:

For me it’s “Girls Do It Best” first. “Bitches in Training” sounds a little too crazy for me. Good theme for discussion though, because only a woman knows how a woman feels. Giggidy giggidy…

  33. John says:

AWESOME-O-4000! (on the new banners) LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Except I miss F#@K! F#@K!

  34. whall says:

Yay! You added email subscriptions to comments!

  35. kapgar says:

BTW, Katie’s gonna love the Depeche Mode banner.

  36. I always enjoy the random ‘toons in your header. Also, that bunny is darn cuddly. Good work.
