Wiimbledon

Posted on Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Dave! One of the great things about Jägermeister is that it doesn't seem to give me much of a hangover. One of the bad things about dropping a shot-glass-full of it into Red Bull to create a Jäger Bomb is that Red Bull keeps you awake. And when you have too many Jäger Bombs (as I most certainly did) getting any kind of sleep is not easy. This is a good thing when you want to keep the party going... but not so good when you are trying to get some rest.

Which meant that I spent most of the day in a zombie-like state from total lack of sleep.

Which meant that playing Wii all morning was probably not a good idea.

This was confirmed when I threw my shoulder out while playing Wii Sports Tennis.

Stupid video game...

Emily Mortimer

Fortunately I had some pain pills to fix that right up.

Which was nice, because I was invited to dinner by Spirit of St. Lewis. This allowed me to add another "blogger I've met" to my sidebar, because My 2 Cents was there as well. Later on we were lucky enough to run into fellow blogger Kristin Wood Knits (though we may have to strip her of her blogger cred since she hasn't written there since September!).

Big fun was had by all, so many thanks to Lewis, Blair, Chris, Bryan, and Kristin for letting me tag along!

Now it must be time to catch up on some of that sleep, because I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open here...

It is easy to get “into it” way too much with Wii Tennis. I was doing ok until I realized that if I REALLY smack the ball as hard as I can, it gets represented on the screen.

Did you notice that the better you do, the more your opponents sweat?

  2. yellojt says:

Drunken Wii Tennis. We need a 24/7 DaveCam so bad.

  3. Turnbaby says:

    Those things just seem gross.

Not like Southern Comfort, orange juice and seven up was healthy or anything 😉

  4. Well, as long as you kept drinking throughout the day and into the night, you should have been fine.

When I played Wii tennis, I actually got a workout. How sad is that? I was sweating…

  5. Hilly says:

I was wondering about that….the one time I had some Red Bull/cranberry/vodka concoction at Caesar’s in Vegas, it was like I was wired and drunk all at the same time. I believe the next day was a cranky Hilly day, LOL.

Glad you got to meet more people! I aspire….

  6. Tracy says:

My husband gets so out of control on Wii bowling that I’m afraid he’s going to kill himself. I can’t imagine him playing drunk!

  7. Lewis says:

Oh hell, you know we always have to have one token handosme man in the bunch to keep the rest of us humble. It was a lot of fun, I have to say. Such a comfortable group. Including the Ding Dongs. thanks for helping make it happen.

  8. Kristin says:

Dude. You totally spelled my name wrong. Right after you spelled it right.

Thanks so much for including me. I had a great time.

  9. Karl says:

Yeah, that Wii will really throw your body out of whack. Not a couch potato game.

  10. Chris says:

Great fun was had and Lewis is right the ding dongs were the ultimate touch.

  11. Dave2 says:

Wayne… It’s the same with bowling. The more power you put into it, the more power you get on the screen.

Yellojkt… Trust me, nobody really wants that.

Turnbaby… Sounds good! Except for the orange juice. And the 7-Up.

Absurdist… Me too. Probably the best work out I’ve had in years!

Hilly… The Red Bull is good as you head into the evening, because you know you’ll keep your energy up. But it’s smart to taper off later in the evening so you can get some sleep.

Tracy… There’s a lot of crashing into each other… smacking opponents with Wiimotes, and falling down…

    Lewis… True! A shame Ding Dongs aren’t vegetarian. 🙁

    Krystun… Okay! Okay! I fixed it! 🙂

Karl… Which is why I my my Atari 2600! Not only can you play it on the couch, but in bed too! It’s got ONE BUTTON! Sweet!

Chris… Indeed! Good to meet you and Bryan!

  12. Avitable says:

    I like Wii Bowling more.

  13. kapgar says:

Not stupid video game… stupid video game player. Don’t you stretch before playing the Wii?? 😉

  14. The Ref, LGC, England says:

I love the tennis game on the Wii. Perhaps you could make a Bad Monkey Mii and then tell us the options so we can all have BM running round the court?

  15. Rick says:

I don’t see my name on the Bloggers I’ve Met list. I must’ve made quite an impression at Daveattle. 😉

  16. amanda says:

I like wii golf the best. And I’ve never seen the shot glass dumped into the red bull before, we usually mix it together then do it as a big shot

  17. Wii injuries = Totally worth it.

  18. ChillyWilly says:

I’ve yet to play Wii. My step daughter has one and I’ve gone over there several times to watch, but have never played it. I’m sure one of these days, I’ll get the desire. But for now, it’s just not been that much of an interest.
