Bullet Sunday 50

Posted on Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Dave! It's Bullet Sunday at the end of a cold and dreary afternoon. What happened? Where did summer go?

• Invincible! Even though it's a couple months old, I didn't get around to reading the latest Invincible hardcover until now. Much like Volumes 1 & 2, Invincible: The Ultimate Collection Volume 3 is amazing. Just when you think that Robert Kirkman can't possibly come up with cool new ideas for his book, he somehow devises these amazing storylines that catapult the series to an entirely new level. Highest possible recommendation.

• Birbiglia! This week one of my favorite comedians, Mike Birbiglia, dropped his new album called My Secret Public Journal and it is (as expected) TOTALLY AWESOME. A very worthy follow-up to Two Drink Mike and his Comedy Central Special. Everybody should go buy it immediately.

• Vista! Microsoft announced that they're going to continue selling Windows XP into 2008 because they now realize that their new Windows Vista OS totally sucks ass and nobody wants to use it. Or something like that. I can relate, because after re-installing and re-activating Vista three times and still having problems, I finally threw Vista in garbage and went back to XP. It's as if every single time I am forced to use Windows, Microsoft makes the experience so horrible that I will hate it even more that the last time I was forced to use Windows. The not-so-subtle irony here is that Microsoft is taking a massive step backwards just as Apple is preparing to unleash the next version of their VASTLY SUPERIOR AND ALL-AROUND KICK-ASS OS, MacOS X Leopard, in October. I LOVE YOU STEVE JOBS!!

• Caruso! The latest advertisements for CSI: Miami are hinting that Horatio Cane (played by the tragically-awful "actor" David Caruso) is going to DIE! Yes... DIE! DIE! DIIIEEEEE! In which case I might actually start watching the show. But bastard TV executives are always lying about stuff, and so I'm going to wait and be totally sure he's dead before I tune in. How do I make a Google Alert for something like that? Because the alternative is just too big a nightmare to imagine...

• Order! I spent the morning filling orders, and thought I'd make a PSA: Just so everybody knows... all orders from the Artificial Duck Store over one week old have been shipped. Prints, which were delayed while I found something to send them in, were shipped out weeks ago. I am saying this because I recently found out that somebody did not get what they ordered. If you have ordered something and have not received it, PLEASE let me know! Thanks!

I'm feeling unbelievable lazy, so that's all she wrote for Bullet Sunday.

  1. My copy the #3 Invincible hardcover shipped on Thursday. So any day now! Thanks for getting me hooked on that!

And Vista is awful, my mom was over today and I was helping her with stuff. I really wish I had known (how could I?) that she was really going to like computing, it really would have been worth the extra cash for a Mac…

  2. Baak says:

I recently bought a new PC and made sure to get WinXP (Pro in my case) because I haven’t heard one good thing about Vista yet, even from some M$ fanatics I work with.

I’m still planning on buying a Mac laptop one of these fine days and will simply run XP on it when needed.

  3. kilax says:

My grandmother bought a new computer with Vista on it, after her XP computer crashed. Can you imagine a 71 year-old trying to figure out vista? I CAN’T EVEN EFFING FIGURE IT OUT!

  4. Iron Fist says:

At least they saw the light on that one, I was afraid Microsoft was going to try and completely pull XP from stores so that it couldn’t be sold anymore.

I’d like to think their days are numbered, but that’s probably just the open-source fanboy in me talking.

  5. adena says:

Oh thank god. Couldn’t they have killed him like 8 seasons ago?

I’m not even sure that version has been on that long. He makes time go by so slowly. And not in a good way.

  6. kapgar says:

The thing is that I won’t even watch promos for CSI: Miami anymore so I had no idea that he might die soon. I’d probably still not watch it because I want the entire cast to die, in all honesty.

  7. Lisa says:

I’m not sure what’s worse – Microsoft Vista or David Caruso. Both make my eyes bleed.

  8. Beth says:

How do you really feel about David Caruso? I’m not sure you made your point…nice toon, in a bloody crying sort of way.

  9. Wayne says:

I’m sure there’s some princess out there who ordered from your site, singing to herself….

    Some… day… my prints will come….

  10. Miss Britt says:

How can you not love a man who makes the mundane awesomely over dramatic? *sigh*

  11. Avitable says:

Well, I am still waiting on that tent-sized T-shirt.

  12. blanetalk says:

Caruso makes David Duchovny and Keanu Reeves look gloriously emotive. Somebody with deep pockets ought to sue him for breech of contract … he supposedly signed up to “act”, right?

Anyway, I’m so done with all the CSI procedurals at this point anyway, there isn’t anything they can do to make me want to watch it anymore. Whatever happend to the buddy-cop shows, where at least there was the amiable-but-sometimes-tension-filled relationship to carry you through the repetitive formulaic plot lines?

Er, maybe I’m a wee bit cynical about television.

  13. bogup says:

Not a big deal but shouldn’t blood be coming out of cartoon Dave’s nose and mouth orifices too?

  14. ajooja says:

We saw Birbigs when he came through town. I love the stories about his brother, America’s guest.

  15. Dustin says:

Vista is to XP what Horatio Cane is to Gill Grissom.

  16. ET says:

Ummm….I’ve only been lurking around a couple of months so, I might not be totally ‘up’ on things but, this certainly explains why you’d put a pic of David Caruso on the Microsoft Zune on Sept 9 Bullet Sunday. Very apropos!

I gotta agree with Blanetalk about Duchovny’s “acting”, too. Whenever Mulder was supposed to “cry” on X-files, I’d get that incredible squirmy, unconfortable, this-is-so-bad feeling that I’d literally have to get up and leave the room.

  17. Hilly says:

For some reason, I have heard about David Caruso more in the last week than the entirety of my life. Everywhere I turn on the entertainment sites, there he is…him and his “sexy sunglasses”. Gag me.

  18. whit says:

I love David Caruso. You shouldn’t talk bad about him. You’re jealous.

-That Crazy Lady With the DC Fansite

  19. Laurence says:

    I am feeling like Lil’Dave when I see David Caruso ! 😉

  20. yellojkt says:

I’m avoiding buying a new computer so I don’t have to mess with Vista. Some tech podcasts are saying it is just unusable.

  21. the patient says:

well, explain to me why i have had to download the iphone update ten times, with it failing each time, only to unload everything apple on my computer and then reload it, just to see if maybe the download will complete ok.

yah, it isn’t just ms crap… its all computer crap.

  22. Tal says:

I also don’t get why Tv Execs also seem to LOVE Caruso…. I mean, Why was he given another show in the first place? He was in some other cop show and made you wanna gouge out your eyes in that one too (sorry, I forget which one it was).

  23. Kyle Rivenbark says:

Nice resident evil 2 Alice deal going there with the guy staring at the screen and lil dave bleeding from the eyes and ears.

  24. Brandon says:

Mike Bahuskie’s CD is awesome, isn’t it? I got it the first day it was out because we saw him do it live in New York and we nearly wet ourselves, I nearly wet myself again listening to it.

  25. Voxen says:

Unfortunately, they didn’t kill him off….but the dream was SOOO BEAUTIFUL. Personally, I would roast Caruso on a stake, drown him in boiling oil and roll him in a bath of tar…heheh
