Retros

Posted on Saturday, November 4th, 2006

Dave!Uhhh... yeah. Could not get to an Apple Store to have them check out my PowerBook yet, so last night became a blur of horribly unacceptable behavior that I will be paying for all day today. And probably part of tomorrow.

One does not drink eleven shots of Jagermeister, three beers, and smoke cigarettes for the first time in over a decade and not have something go terribly wrong the next day.

Oh yeah... along the way I lost $150 gambling at the Tulalip Casino, got to see The Retros tear it up with 80's hits, and ate French fries at McDonalds.

It sucks to be me this morning. Or is it afternoon? I don't really know.

11 shots of jager? how are u still alive?

  2. Dave2 says:

It’s easy when your first shot is at 6:00pm and your last is at 12:30am. That’s only like… two and hour or something.

It also helps to have a designated driver in your group so you aren’t driving from one bar to the next. That can mess up your drinking schedule in a hurry… because they don’t let you drink in the hospital.

    Or in jail, I’d imagine…

  3. dirty says:

Sounds like my Friday night except I didn’t go gambling. I recomand Excedrine.

  4. diane says:

Well, the gauntlet has been thrown down. I was aiming for margaritas & a nice early night tonight, but had an offer for a much longer night from an old friend. Now I feel I have no choice but to prove I can still party hard, too. 😉
By the way, cigarettes??? BAD Dave.

  5. ChicagoDave says:

While you’re at the Apple Store, you *gotta* pick up the new shuffle – it’s amazing.

  6. Laurence says:

    Ouh lĂ  lĂ  !!!
Alcohol, cigarette, casino… It is not exactly what I thought when I wish you a lot of fun !!! 😀

  7. iFran says:

And all for not having a Apple Store near to you….
That’s so sad; but shows how Apple could do our life better in so many ways…

  8. adena says:

    Holy cork!

I’ll start typing up the eulogy now…

  9. RW says:

I am a meat-eating degenerate reprobate, but even I wouldn’t combine Jagermeister, beer, cigarettes and McDonald’s fries.

You are either a braver man than I shall ever be or a total idiot……… 🙂

  10. Kyra says:

Oh my 11 shots? I see your time schedule you posted there – but GEEZE! I’d end up on CNN (in one of six possible ways) if I did that, even WITH the spacing.

Shall we all go in on the gift of advil for you?

  11. Troy says:

Dave. If you like retro 80’s bands check out the B.A. Baracus Band. They even have a free album on their site – to find it get onto the main page (the 9 Mr. T’s in a Andy Warhol type painting), click on the middle Mr. T (the Music link), then pick the “In It For the Money” album link and from there you can download the full album. I have the other two albums as well. Good times.

Oh and they are from Ontario, and yes I’ve seen them live at a Canada Day celebration.

  12. FRENCH FRIES FROM MCDONAOLDS, DAVE? Are you trying to die?

    Feel better…

  13. Jeff says:

The Retros look like a lot of fun. I love their set list. I can’t say that I’ve ever heard a band do “Come on Eileen”.

  14. Erin says:

Wow! Sounds like quite a night.

  15. Mrs RW says:

Am I the only one who understands the fries? It soaks up the alcohol – or after 11 jagers it sounds like a good idea…

After a solid night of drinking, here in Chicago we would have “sliders” otherwise known as White Castle hamburgers. Unfortunately you feel just as bad in the morning.

    I recommend a prairie oyster.

  16. Mark says:

Dude! Why Jagermeister? Why not something tasty, like sweat from your ass?

  17. sandra says:

    My head hurts for you.

  18. ms. sizzle says:

keep the lights low and the noise level lower.

and eat more fries. they will help.

  19. delmer says:

I spent a Friday, two weeks back, drinking beer for 6 hours. That isn’t something I do a lot of anymore and it left me feeling puny the next day.

    I feel your pain.

  20. dude, I’m a diehard drinker and Jagermeister knocks me on.my.ass. if you didn’t spend the night or day hurling your brains out, you did good. 😀

  21. Erin says:

you’re blaming a nonfunctioning, nonthinking hunk of metal and plastic for your rock and roll lifestyle?

dude… that’s a level of pass the buckness I’ve not even seen in LA. nicely done.

With that, you officially replace our beloved former OPJ, cause he’s gone all nice and wishy-washy now.

  22. Craig says:

Do the Retros still have a “staff photographer” running around at their shows snapping crowd pics that they put on their website following each show (and if so, were you caught)? My wife and I saw them three years ago in San Diego and she found herself on their site in some mildly amusing positions in those photos.

I recall their set list being straight off of MTV circa 1985, +/- 5 years, back when music was all MTV had on. Good fun.

  23. Dave2 says:

    Indeed they do!

I checked to see if any of us showed up, but it looked like they had stopped taking photos by the time we made it to the dance floor.
