LSW2:TOT

Posted on Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

Dave! After getting out of the movie Crank (which has the distinction of being embarrassingly stupid and totally entertaining at the same time), I went to reserve a copy of Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy for both Xbox AND Nintendo DS. Considering the first Lego Star Wars was one of the bestest games ever, I simply had to do it.

I know that it's probably a mistake to get overly-optimistic, but the sequel looks even better than the original! Probably because it's based on the "real" Star Wars instead of the totally crappy "prequels" that sucked major ass. I've been spending a lot of time over at IGN drooling over their game coverage and snagging cool shots like this...

Lego Star Wars 2

Sweet! It's Lego!! It's REAL frickin' Star Wars!! I am brimming with anticipation.

Now it's time to get back to work while watching a few more episodes of Veronica Mars: The Complete Second Season on DVD. My favorite quote so far... "The only way I could make $2000 a week at the coffee shop is if they installed a pole!"

  1. Mrs RW says:

I am envious of anyone who could actually build something out of Legos. It must be a “boy” thing…

  2. Avitable says:

My favorite VM quote from season 2:

“Oh, you mean standing while black?”

(the winter carnival episode when Madison accuses Jackie of looking suspicious)

  3. Dave2 says:

Mrs. RW… You should see my Lego Pirate Ship!! It’s called the “Skull’s Eye Schooner”, contains 879 pieces, and I built it all by myself!

Avitable… “Me? I’m great! I’m slathering up my boobs as we speak!” (V2, E05: Blast From The Past… after the psychic show).

  4. adena says:

It’s fun to watch you brim. 🙂

Anyhow, Lego’s Star Wars was fun…I’m SURE the new one will be better!

  5. Mark says:

I don’t have a favorite quote, but every time Veronica screams, “A Pony!” it brings out a chuckle.

  6. Mooselet says:

Well, I quite frequently slather up my boobs as well but you don’t see me telling everyone about it. 🙂

  7. karla says:

I got a friend to send me Veronica Season two, which I haven’t even opened the package yet because it’s just so cool knowing it’s there…waiting for me..oh the anticpation is killing me.

But I have a feeling I will rip that sucker open this afternoon. I never was one for too much anticipation. I’m Veruca Salt all the way, I want it NOW….if only work did not interfere with my dvd watching.

  8. Laurence says:

The design looks so great !!! I especially like Chewie’s lego.
Have fun and “Que la force soit avec toi !” (I am not sure but I remember this quote in english : “The Force will be with you. Always.”)

  9. Chaz says:

Dave, your plethora of Lego Star Wars mentions have me pretty excited about that game, too. I don’t spend too much time on gaming sites, but I must admit spending my fair share of time searching for stuff on Lego Star Wars (it does look friggin’ sweet)! Heck, I even just bought the first two seasons of Veronica Mars this past weekend thanks to your constant praise of the show, and in the course of one week, I’ve almost watched both seasons already! You were most certainly right about Veronica Mars; it’s awesome! Sheesh, I’m being Dave-ized!

  10. Kyra says:

My son is obsessed with the Lego Star Wars right now. He’s only allowed to play 30 minutes a day, but he asks about it ALL day long! It’s a full on running theme. He even roped my husband into reading the Star Wars trilogy to him (he’s too young – almost 6 – to watch the actual movies.)

  11. MRKisThatKid says:

Whoo, I loved the little re-enactments in the first one, despite having no dialogue they some how made more sense then the films did.

  12. ChillyWilly says:

I am so there with the Lego STAR WARS 2. As I’ve mentioned previously, I have the first one (for my GBA) mostly based on your love of the game (as well as a co-worker).

This time I’ll be going with the PSP version, since I like the wider screen and am hoping they use the screen size advantage.

  13. Kevin says:

It’s coming out on the DS?!?! Friggin’ sweet! I’m not sure if I’ll get it for both the DS and the Cube, but I may. Depends. But DS for sure! I wonder how that would work on WiFi?

  14. Karl says:

Yeah, I’m watching Veronica Mars’ second season, as well. Just finished episode 5 and want to catch up before Season 3 starts on the telly.

That Lego Star Wars looks great. I don’t have a game console, alas. Don’t think I can convince myself to get one just for one game.

  15. suze says:

lego, star wars, my 10-year-old self is in heaven…

fave vmquotable from season two: “I love unicorns. What, dad? Girls are crazy about unicorns!”

although, the delivery on the “A Pony” line from “Not Pictured” was priceless.

  16. Wayne Hall says:

I too simply cannot wait for legos ii. We have the first one for ps2 and my 4yr old son, myself and my 12yr daughter all love playing it. Wife… Let’s just say she gets a chuckle watching *us* more than watching *it*.

And everything star-wars related always reminds me of Thumb Wars by Steve Oedekirk (not sure of the last name). Hilarious spoof. Ever-so-quotable.

  17. Thomas says:

The last 3 star wars fils sucked? Care to elaberate? I actually thought they were quite good. I guess I did not expect too much. But it did not take much genious to overcome Mark Hammel’s acting. Cute that he may have been (according to my sister), it was still the guy from Corvet Summer. I just had a hard time dealnig with the better special effects on the stories that were supposed to take place in an earlier time line.

The biggest dissapointment IMO is that he made everyone wait 30 years to get this far and he wimped out and cut off the last 3 films of the story.
