Dave!Jenny and I had made plans to check out the Chris Ware showing at the Museum of Contemporary Art today. I am a huge admirer of his work, and was happy to find a fellow fan to share the exhibit with. Luckily, Gary was still in town as well, so the three of us set out to explore Chicago after I had spent way too much money in the museum gift shop.

First it was the the Printer's Row Book Fair, where we ran across the very cool Harold Washington Library Center...

It was such a beautiful day that it seemed a shame not to walk up to Millennium Park so we could see the newly polished "Cloud Gate" sculpture. All the seams have finally been buffed out, and we were anxious to see the new and improved "seamless bean". Along the way, we caught up with some protesters being addressed by the cops in a "Segway to Justice!"

As expected, the bean was stunning under the flawless blue skies...

And then, before we knew it, it was time for a quick lunch and goodbye...

What a terrific way to spend a Sunday!

Sigh. The most fun thing I did today was try on swimsuits for my upcoming Vegas vacation …

  2. Neil says:

Chicago is the coolest city! And the police even have Segways. How civilized.

  3. I have always wanted to go to Chicago. I truly believe its my destiny. And since I know I can outrun a Segway in a pinch I now know this is the city for me to be in!

  4. Erin says:

Wouldn’t it be horrible to be the cop who got the Segway instead of a cop car? I wonder if they draw straws or something for it. Can you imagine chasing an evildoer on one of those?

  5. James says:

    Cool beans man. Cool beans.

    *bean.

  6. nick sizzle says:

    i like the last picture.
i was in chicago last year, it was fun. i love the pizza!

  7. alice says:

totally cool bean. weather looks just as good as it does over here in southern cali.

  8. What a beautiful day for photography! Chicago has some great sites, I should get back there soon.

  9. Brent says:

It’s so nice to see three people with nice, big cams around their neck!

  10. kilax says:

The bean is so nice now that it is finished!

  11. Ariana says:

What a big lens you have, Dave! 😉

I’m glad you folks had some more fun before you left my fine city…well I guess the city’s not really MINE, but I was born in Chicago so have a right to claim it, don’t I?

I’m at work on a lunch break checking my new blog buddies’ blogs… blaring sirens when off when I tried to open Kevin’s. He must have something naughty on it that the public school techies don’t want us kids to see.

    See ya.

  12. sandra says:

SO jealous! I haven’t lived in Chicago since 2000, but it’s still home — and Jenny is fabulous — as, I’m sure, is Kevin. Go bloggers.

  13. ChillyWilly says:

    Way cool meetup.

Next time you are in Salt Lake, we’ll have to see if there are other Blogography readers here (I hope I’m not the only one)

  14. Mocha says:

That’s interesting that Ariana can’t see Kevin’s blog. His is the only one they LET come through to me at work.

Not that I look at this stuff at work or anything.

Yours, however, has the thing across the top: YOU HAVE ACCESSED A BANNED WEBSITE – PLEASE CONTACT THE ADMINISTRATOR.

    I like that about you.

  15. Susan says:

No fair, Dave. I have never once seen a Chicago cop on a Segway, and I only live 30 miles away. And *she grumbles* your blog is so darn cool that I’m going to be spending too much time checking it out every day!

Ok, whine over. It was great to meet up with you guys on Saturday. Love the pictures!

  16. Bec says:

Hopelessly jealous… Glad you all had a good time! No… honest…

  17. ms. sizzle says:

i really have to visit chicago. great pics! so jealous you got to hang with jenny, gary and kevin.

  18. kazza says:

I love that last bean photo 🙂
