Dave!WOO HOO!

IGN is posting news from E3 on the totally sweet forthcoming LEGO STAR WARS video game sequel. The first Star Wars Lego Game was awesome, and it looks like this one is going to be even better (and only partially because the original trilogy kicks ass over the lame Jar Jar Binks new trilogy).

Lego Star Wars is one of the few games I've actually bothered to play all the way through... it looks great, plays great, and is the most fun I've ever had with my Xbox. And now we get the REAL Star Wars...

Lego Star Wars

Awww look... you can be Chewbacca and rip the arms off of Stormtroopers! Cute!

Lego Star Wars

The handheld version for Nintendo DS looks equally sweet, and even uses a 3D rendering engine for the graphics...

Lego Star Wars

Apparently you'll be able to do multiplayer, but I'm not sure if it is just local or if you can play over the internet.

I want these games right now, but they won't be released until September. In the meanwhile, you can read about the Xbox version at IGN here... and the Nintendo DS version at IGN here.

Since you enjoy that, iil bet that you would enjoy http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/starwarsbattlefront2/index.html?q=battlefront%202

If you wanted, you could just play the original trilogy, you can even be Fett, Luke and Vader.
(plus you can do a mode where all you do is blast ewoks or gungans)

    Ahhhhh….Cool!

Lego Star Wars was fun….using the force to have a little lego guy lift up bar stools in a diner w/ robotic waitresses. Ha!

(Oh yeah…and the rest of the game, too.) 🙂

  3. ChillyWilly says:

Can’t wait for this game. It looks very cool. I’m liking the current version for the Game Boy Advance (as I’ve posted before in your Lego Star Wars posts).

I may have a DS by then, but for now, I’m planning on getting the PSP version.

  4. nick sizzle says:

    woohoo!!!
i loved the first lego starwars!
i got it for my mac for my birthday and finished it quick.
    i’ve got the lego jitters….
    i need my fix..

  5. Chris says:

I’m really looking forward to this, it looks like it’s going to be great fun. If the year goes to plan I’ll be playing this on my new DS:Lite. 😀

  6. babyoog says:

I just spent WAY too much time trying to figure out if I was going to be able to get this for one of the consoles I actually own…and…yes! It’s coming out on everything! Awesome!

  7. nancycle says:

I live with the BIGGEST LITTLE Star Wars fan ever. He knows it, the ships the characters, the scenes, it’s endless.

So, with our PS2 Star Wars games downstairs, I’m wondering if we will have the opportunity to see how this one will match up.

If not, this will have to be played at his Pop’s house on the Xbox I guess…

  8. Bre says:

Here’s my shameful secret: I have never seen any of those movies.

With that in mind… in the first group of 4 images, the bottom left image, why do those men look like they’re dancing the twist?!

  9. kilax says:

Why is Greedo’s head on Han’s body holding a lightsaber? Has the world gone mad?

  10. Dave2 says:

The game has a character builder where you can combine pieces of different characters and swap their abilities… then play as the custom character. Sweet!

  11. Kevin says:

    Rowwrrrrr-row-rorrrrrr!
    -Chewbacca

    Translation: “Totally bitchin’, dude!”

  12. mikey says:

I like your style Dave. Scifi toys and games rock!!

  13. Troy says:

I can’t wait for this. I got the first one last Christmas and finished it pretty quickly. Though I loved playing through levels with the different characters (even though some of them were quite useless).

Hopefully they have lots of cool extras.

  14. Mooselet says:

I want to know what the little hearts are for. I don’t play video games so it’s either some scoring system or, given that there are a bunch of male Lego characters, some Brokeback kind of deal. 🙂

  15. Dave2 says:

The hearts are your “health” – as you get shot, stabbed, or beaten… your hearts decrease. When your hearts are gone, you “die”. Well, not really die. This is Lego after all… you just kind of fall to pieces.

  16. Brandon says:

Good news Dave. We went to the video store to rent a movie tonight and since the wife is on call all weekend I thought I would rent myself a game instead of spending all sorts of money going to baseball games or movies or whatever. It just so happened that they had Lego Star Wars used so I bought it. I haven’t started playing yet, but now I’m looking forward to the rest of my lonely weekend.

  17. Susan says:

    Hi.
I have a G5 iMac and would love to play the first Lego star wars, multiplayer over the internet…does anyone know if that is possible? or is it just multiplayer over a local network.
    Thanks in advance!

  18. Wayne Hall says:

Fine then, I comment on a blog a few years back and think I’m “all that” by letting peeps know that there’s a Lego Star Wars game on the entry that talked about Batman, Legos and star wars and here, only a month and a half ago… you already posted about it AND knew about the sequel.

    Man I’m so behind.

Did you already do a davetoon lego starwars character? Maybe dave as a lego with a lightsabre and Princess Liz-aia behind you like the shirt logo?

  19. Dave2 says:

Ya know… I hadn’t even THOUGHT of turning myself into a Lego character!! That would totally rule! That is going into my inspiration file right now!
