Lost

Posted on Friday, September 23rd, 2005

Dave! Finally got around to watching My Name is Earl (which is brilliant), Invasion (which shows promise), and the season opener to Lost.

I just don't know what to make of Lost. I mean, had this been the season finale instead of the lame piece of crap show we got months ago... I might be happy. But as a season opener, it's a bit tame. Sure they gave "the hatch" an interesting twist, but when you stop and think about it... there's not much else to it. Somehow I doubt the explanation as to what was down there is going to blow me away, but I remain hopeful.

It will be interesting to see if this season works like last season, where they start off with all the cool stuff and then gradually run out of ideas and drag out the remainder of the season into mindless tedium.

And then there's J.J. Abrams' other show, Alias, which sucked so bad the last couple of seasons that I find myself wondering if I am even going to bother watching this time. I'll probably give it a try to see where they go with the "Vaughn is not Vaughn" story, but what can they do once the pregnancy hits?

Argh. How many days until Veronica Mars' new season starts??

I thought Lost was awsome. I didn’t like the twist at the end as I predicted it at the opening of the show. Which is something my wife hates when I do it.

Alias, well I’m hopeful like most fans of that show are.

My Name is Earl, I didn’t catch that one, I think we already record something in its place. But I would like to see it, I have heard nothing but great things about the show.

  2. Randy says:

    My “Lost” question is this:
How come the very large (obese) guy is STILL very large?…wouldn’t being lost in such a place cause one to lose just a LITTLE bit of weight?…

  3. Troy says:

One of my co-workers watchs Alias and told me about them writing her pregnancy in. I predict that she will have the child but it will be taken away from her and she will have to search the world for the child. That’s just my prediction.

As for Lost. I still find it interesting. Sure it’s a little beyond the realm of possibility but I also like how I have to think about what might be going on. I’m probably complete off in my theories but it’s nice to have a chance to think a little when watching TV. I guess it’s also nice that finished the first season a couple days before the season premiere so I didn’t have to wait four months for new episodes.

  4. Patrick says:

    Have to agree: Earl’s great!

  5. Harold says:

I really enjoy “LOST” and thought season opener was good…episode three will explain the “numbers” and when we get back to the survivors on the disabled raft there will be movement in the water…(JAWS) ?????
To make “LOST” real, they need to kill off several more characters before the end of season two.

When was Invasion on? I meant to watch it and somehow fucked that up. There are just too many shows I want to see and since I have not nutted up to get a DVR yet, I am basically screwed. You ever drag your ass down to Portland?

  7. CJ says:

Lost was good enough to keep me watching, because it’s still better than 99% of what’s on TV.

I’m not all that optimistic about this upcoming season of Alias, but I’ve been a loyal viewer since the Pilot (one of my favorite hours of TV ever), so I feel like I must watch to the end, if only to find out what they are doing with Vaughn. I also want to watch Earl, but it’s in a killer timeslot that already has two good shows (The Amazing Race and House). Thankfully I can catch reruns on Bravo, at least for a while.

And I know it was a rhetorical question, but the Veronica Mars premiere is in five days: September 28. 😉 Unfortunately, it’s up against Lost, so I thank the TV gods for my dual-tuner TiVo. If I had to choose, though, VM wins hands-down. I can catch up with Lost on DVD, but there is no way I could stop watching VM.

  8. Michelle says:

Veronica Mars: 5 days away! (today being friday)
My Name is Earl was good too. lots of beck songs, i noticed.

  9. Dave2 says:

Not a lot of time has passed on Lost yet… they’ve only been there a couple of weeks, remember. I too hope that Hurley undergoes weight loss to add credibility to the show.

All the TV gossip sites are reporting that major characters will be dropping like flies this season, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I agree it’s silly to expect that there won’t be more deaths on such a mysterious and dangerous island.

And it’s a rave for “Earl” from the Swedish contingent! I was looking forward to this show (as a huge Jason Lee fan) and was not disappointed.

INVASION! Wednesdays at 10:00 on ABC!

Fortunately, I have a dual-tuner TiVo, so I am hoping again hope that it will record Veronica while I am away… and Lost as well.

  10. jinamina says:

Did you hear, someone figured out what the numbers mean. Totally blew my mind. I think they’re very likely to be correct.
