Play

Posted on Friday, February 26th, 2016

Dave!In all the articles I read about socializing feral cats, food is always given as the first way to win them over. Once you're associated with food in their tiny brains, they eventually warm up to you.

Unless you're Jenny and Jake, in which case food isn't associated with much of anything except eating.

So I resort to winning them over with the runner up... play.

They seem to forget all about hating humans when you play with them. They'll roll all over my lap and feet np problem... at least until they realize where they are and decide to run under the couch again...

Our two cats–River and Scout–are both rescues, and it took a few months for them to warm up to us. We didn’t force it, which made quite a difference. They’re both still shy around new people, but they walk all over us when we’re watching TV or playing video games.

Awww. They’re so cute. And you make such a great kitty daddy.

  3. We got our two kittens last October so know exactly what stage yours are at. While not feral, one of ours (Mary Poppins) was very shy to begin with and took a lot of play/holding to come out of her shell. Now she’s crazy charging about the house.
